Perhaps we could find a compromise between paper ballots and computer voting.
The voting process could be done by a computer with a very simplistic program. All the computer is is a touch screen attached to a machine that punches a paper ballot for you (since people evidently can't do it themselves).
That way if people want to vote for Al Gore they touch the
button. No confusion, no complaints, and don't make the computer program so complicated that it could be manipulated. A simple diagnostic could be run to see it is punching the correct holes at any given time.
