Maybe that'll make California politicians sit up and take notice. But, it's not really a joke.

Federal meteorologists recently said the El Niño event is already the second strongest on record for this time of year. While the warming of Pacific Ocean waters tends to bring heavy winter rain to California and much of the southern and eastern U.S., California's state climatologist noted only half the time when there have been big El Niño has there been meaningful, heavy rains.

Ma Nature designed things in my home state so that it cycles between extra dry and extra wet. Toss in a few earthquakes, and it's an interesting place to live. But that was meant to be at a time without zillions of people building in stupid places. The flooding will just be a small part of it. The Mudslides will do the most damage.
