Vets Education is very important to the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for older veterans, the Post-Vietnam Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) may be able to offer educational benefits. VEAP takes contributions from a veterans’ military pay, and matches each dollar with a $2 contribution from the government. These contributions can be used for a range of education opportunities, including degree and certificate programs, correspondence, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and vocational flight training. In some cases, a veteran may also be able to use VEAP benefits for remedial, refresher and deficiency courses.
