Economics Ph.D in one lesson if you know difference....

What kind of capitalism did China just switch to?

read the book. Its called "Capitalism with Chinese Characteristics."
Why do you ask?? Do you have any idea?????????

Are conservatives going to label the type of China's capitalism by deed or by what they want the world to believe?

who cares what they want the world to believe. In 1980 they switched 100% and began to compete on world markets with price and quality!! The result: 10% growth a year for 30 years!! Our idiot liberals want socialist protection even while looking right at China's success or West /East Germany, Cuba/Florida, etc etc

Should America have backed Mao instead of Chiang?

why Mao given he was a liberal communist genocidal killer!!!
see why we are positive a liberal will be slow

Well, Friedman was a New Keynesian that pushed monetarism. He certainly advocated free markets in the 80s too, but his views were not necessarily consistent with Austrian scholars (he wasn't even of that school). He's most certainly an improvement over today's Keynesian take on monetary policy though.

I must confess that I asked Edward who his influence in Austrian theory was, with the full confidence that he would name Milton Friedman. Obviously, Friedman's Chicago school of thought bears little resemblance to the Austrian school.

little??? They were blood brothers and formed that Pelerin society or whatever together.
Yes, Friedman was sharply critical about the business cycle stuff, mostly out of ego it seemed to me, but those were tiny arguments within the free market family.
