Ebola, Where Is The Surgeon General?

I don't think there is a Surgeon General. I'm not certain of this information but I recall there being a battle over a nomination of Obama's preferred candidate who wanted to use his position to institute anti-handgun campaigns through your family doctor and the Republicans blocked his nomination.

I may be wrong with the above info, so don't take it as the truth.

Yep, Republicans are opposed because nominee said something negative about gunz sending all the right wing racist gun owners and organizations like the NRA into a tizzy.

So why is Obama trying to politicize the position? Quit shoving politics into every damn thing and then Republicans don't have to push back.. See how that works?

The only people politicizing the position are ignorant right wingers. There us nothing wrong with the nominee.

This is strike two for Obama and his politicization of the offices. The first candidate to go down was for the Office of Civil Rights, blocked by opposition from the The National Fraternal Order of Police:

“But after the confirmation vote of Debo Adegbile, we are recalibrating the strategy around Dr. Murthy’s floor vote.”

Adegbile had strong Democratic support before the vote earlier this month. But seven Senate Democrats joined all 44 Republicans in blocking the nomination, angering the White House.

The National Fraternal Order of Police led the effort to block the Adegbile nomination, mounting a campaign against him over his advocacy on behalf of Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was convicted of killing a Philadelphia police officer.

There reportedly are 10 Senate Democrats who will not vote for Murthy because of the NRA opposition.

Alaska Democratic Sen. Mark Begich, a lifetime NRA member seeking re-election this year, is on the record about his position.

"While the Senate has not yet scheduled a vote on Dr. Murthy, I have already told the White House I will very likely vote no on his nomination if it comes to the floor," Begich wrote constituents, according to his office.

Begich has also expressed concerns about the 36-year-old Murthy's political advocacy and inexperience as a practicing physician.
A 36 year old physician who is an anti-gun crusader. What, exactly, makes him BEST suited to the job? He was a very vocal spokesman for ObamaCare. He's a political animal and he's loyal to Obama.

Is the Surgeon General's office a political operation?

Republicans cut funding to fight Ebola....

House Republicans indicated Tuesday that they will provide less than half of the White House's funding request to fight Ebola in the next government spending bill. According to a source familiar with the negotiations, House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) agreed as of Tuesday morning to spend a total of $40 million to fight the epidemic in the 2015 spending bill.

Do Republicans want Ebola to spread, so they can make political points on it???
Do liberals think money grows on trees? Let's cut the funding to the Office of Civil Rights and retask the funding to the Ebola effort. OK? Let's fire those useless Civil Rights attorneys, let;s make a choice, because that's what governance entails - you can't please everyone.

Another obama "racial solidarity" appointee...like Holder and Jeh

Johnson...and like them, I'm sure she thinks everything is going very well in america today.
Bigotry is the republican core value.
Is Holder "black"?
Is Johnson "black"?
Is Regina Benjamin "black"?
Is obama "black"?
What's your point? You think it's a coincidence?
Yes. Obama appointed mostly white men.
You think it's a coincidence that Holder, Johnson Jarrett (and obama) are all black? ....and your position is that obama simply chose them based on their superior skills....ok.sure.....go with that...

Do you think it was a coincidence when there were hardly any minorities or women in top positions? Is it a coincidence the ones complaining here appear to be right wing racist/bigots.

Do you think Obama should appoint one of the physician Congressmen who appear to believe the world was created in 6 , vaccines are a conspiracy, or other ignorant right wing BS?

Do you think it was a coincidence when there were hardly any minorities or women in top positions? Is it a coincidence the ones complaining here appear to be right wing racist/bigots.

It's the Democratic Senators who are holding up his nomination. The Senate could approve his nomination tomorrow if the Democratic Senators all voted together. Why blame Republicans for upholding the principles they believe in - that the office shouldn't be politicized. 10 Senate Democrats will vote no, 10 of 55. If all 55 Senate Democrats vote together they could pass him. Why don't they?

When skills, knowledge and aptitude are the only criteria considered, there will always be fewer minorities in "top positions"

LMAO..now it's "racist" to desire the most knowledgeable, skilled and apt people to advance.
You guys have about used up that word..It doesn't work any more.

Because the white wing NRA leadership is politicizing the nomination.

He's correct. Even the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education concedes his point.

No, it's racist to think only white wingers meet your qualifications.

Big deal, what do Democrats care about the NRA. Get all 55 Democrats to vote together and the guy is in office by Monday.

We aren't talking about who meets my qualifications, though...

What is a "white winger", by the way?

Another misleading headline.
If Obama proposes 100B in new spending and the GOP agrees to 75B in new spending that is not a cut. That is 75B in new spending.
Dems are bad at math.

Democrat's Campaign Slogan, Vote for us, they did it.

It does seem like a huge joke, the Democrat party, while the Liberal/Democrats trip and fall, they blame everyone else but themselves, while they have all the power.

There is a Surgeon General, why is he silent?
