Don’t Kid Yourself, We’re All Subsidizing The Abortion Industry

"There was a time, you’ll probably remember, when contending that Obamacare subsidies would cover elective abortions was considered a “myth”– pure fear mongering, cooked up by the fringiest crackpots of the right. Well, as with some other alleged conspiracy theories about the administration, annoying facts keep popping up to bolster them.

"In a report requested for by eight Republicans House members, the GAO found that 18 insurance providers in 28 states made no attempt to limit access to abortion coverage. And though the Office of Personnel Management is theoretically tasked with making sure at least one insurance plan in each exchange does not cover abortions at all, in states like Connecticut, Hawaii, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Vermont, every insurance plan on the exchanges offered elective abortion. Yes, it’s against the rules. What are you going to do about it?"

No, that's really not at all true. Abortions are hard to get and very expensive. And, its a cash up front business.

The morning after pill is a lot easier to get, take and its cheaper. So are BC pills as well as other forms of bc. Planned Parenthood will implant a free IUD.

Millions of D&Cs are done every year because they are medically necessary. That's the way it was before RvW and its still the way it is.

The last numbers I saw were that 2/3rds of all abortions are medically necessary.

Oh and the reason for an abortion is not the point at all.

Your body belongs to you. YOU decide when to reproduce.

Why should that right be taken away from women?

Im pro life, but with that said, we as americans do far worse then quickly kill a fetus daily. None of you would want to take care of these unwanted kids as is evident by our lack of concern and caring for the suffering children all around us from any country color race or creed. so don't kid yourselves or us. you so called pro lifers really aren't when push comes to shove.

When push comes to shove: Republicans want to push these children back into danger and shove them away from any safety:

Yep. Innocent children, running from rape and drugs and being forced into a life of crime just to survive.

Their only sin is that they are brown.

Our work was not designed to assess CMS’s oversight of compliance with federal requirements because this was
beyond the scope of our objectives. However, in the course of our work, we identified instances where practices of
private issuers and others may have been inconsistent with federal requirements related to the coverage of non
-excepted abortion services. These practices included some instances in which QHP issuers estimated the cost of
coverage of nonexcepted abortion services at less than the statutory minimum of $1 per enrollee, per month; a state based exchange did not assess any premium for coverage of non excepted abortion services for certain enrollees;
and QHP issuers did not notify enrollees regarding coverage of non excepted abortion services
. Our work did not examine the circumstances that might explain more fully how inconsistencies may have occurred nor did our work
systematically determine the extent of the potential inconsistencies that may exist among QHPs operating within the
federally facilitated or state based exchanges. However, we have informed CMS of these matters so that the agency
may consider whether additional guidance or outreach is necessary to ensure compliance with these requirements.

it is an established legal and medical standard, so why should our private medical insurance be diced up based on your religious preference? can religions object to subsidizing any other medical procedures?

I'm sorry...who mentioned religion?

Again. When progressive lunatics claim that the feds aren't funding abortions..they are lying.

how do you define subsidizing...funding...certain particular private medical procedures...?

private reproductive choice is an established legal and medical standard, so why should our private medical insurance be diced up based on your religious preference? iow IF by your definition the feds are 'subsidizing' insurance coverage, so what?

what other medical procedures should religions be able to object to?

A review of 18 insurers found that 15 of them didn't itemize the premium amount associated with the abortion services and didn't send a separate bill for that premium amount, according to a report Monday by the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office.

The findings spurred criticism from Republican congressional leaders who requested the report in December. Passage of the health-care law in 2010 hinged on the deal that split off abortion-coverage premiums so federal subsidies wouldn't offset them.

"Today's GAO report confirms that under the president's health-care law, abortions are being paid for with taxpayer funds by more than 1,000 exchange plans across the country," said House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) in a news release.

Abortions have been paid by private insurance companies since the 1970s when Roe V Wade was decided by the supreme court.

Abortions for women who were raped, survived incest or their health/life is in danger get their abortions paid by federal medicaid dollars.

Then there's the states that use their state tax dollars to pay for abortions for anyone on medicaid no matter the reason. Which my state is one of them. We've been using medicaid dollars to pay for abortions since the early 1980s.

Here's the reality. Everyone has been paying for abortions since Roe V. Wade.

Only just now you have a problem with it.

Wow are you going to be pissed off when my state passes legislation that requires all insurance to cover abortions.

Get over it. Everyone's tax dollars are used in a way they don't like. In your situation it's abortions.

Deal with it.

susan carpenter-mcillan, the conservative woman who helped paula jones sue Bill Clinton had not one but TWO abortions.

Do you have a point? Is your point that only poor democrats should get abortions?

The person I replied to called people who have abortions scum losers.

I was pointing out that he's calling republicans/conservatives scum losers.

However I don't believe that political party has anything to do with why a person has an abortion.

I want to know when will you be working for all viagra and penis pumps to not be covered by insurance.

You whine because you might have to pay for an abortion with your tax dollars. The reality is that you've been doing that since Roe V. Wade. If you live in one of the 17 states that uses their state tax dollars to cover abortions for women with medicaid for any reason your tax dollars have been paying for abortions. You've been paying for abortions with state medicaid dollars for women who were raped, survivor of incest or for women who's life/health is in jeopardy.

But you're whining about private insurance companies paying for an abortion. Guess what? They've been doing that since Roe V. Wade.

Why didn't you whine about it before the ACA?

If Texas, North Carolina, Kansas and a few other states have their way, women won't even be able to GET birth control much less take it, thanks to the stupid, illiterate and unforgiving ignorance of the far right.

I don't counterpoint lazy and stupid responses, and when I come up against enough of them from a single person, I ignore the person.

Pssst...choosing not to pay for it, and actually PREVENTING them from getting it are two different things.

Oh, men are just as much to blame for unwanted pregnancies as women.

Look it up yourself, I have already posted about these states creating artificial and unnecessary "surgical standards" so abortion clinics will have to close. Pssst.....These clinics provided birth control, not just abortions.

And you're paying for these whether you like it or not, and as Lud said, since Roe v. Wade.

So your choices are to continue on or put up the tax money now to raise unwanted children to the age of 18.

Those aren't REALLY the only two options. They are merely the only two options YOU want to consider.

List the other options then, for a couple or a single woman who cannot afford to be a parent.
She/they will have to go on welfare in order to support the child if:
a) Family or friends won't pay
2) Robbing banks is not an option

It comes down to money, genius. And someone has to cough it up.
