With 80% of Puerto Rico still without power, Trump says FEMA can't stay 'forever'

Donald Trump: We cannot aid Puerto Rico 'forever' - CNNPolitics

The press is just making stuff up. Puerto Rico is fine. Who is without what? If half the country didn't have food or water, they would be dying.

-------------
Trump's tweets:

"Puerto Rico survived the Hurricanes, now a financial crisis looms largely of their own making." says Sharyl Attkisson. A total lack of.....

...accountability say the Governor. Electric and all infrastructure was disaster before hurricanes. Congress to decide how much to spend....

...We cannot keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been amazing (under the most difficult circumstances) in P.R. forever!

-----------------

I can't make this stuff up. Republicans are some mean and dirty people. What can you expect from people who believe in "let them die" as an actual healthcare policy?

People aren't counting the dead because they are looking for something to eat and a little clean water.

Good thing Trump said he would find a way to wipe out Puerto Rico's debt then. Then too, the governor is going to have a serious investigation as to the refusal of truck drivers to deliver suppliers.

Puerto Rico is going to have a bit to answer for.

Trump seems to have decided that Puerto Rico is a money
pit------and is willing to let it go in bankruptcy-----maybe.
I believe that Puerto Rico will find a way to survive

Related/semi-related: If I recall right a FEMA volunteer/employee can only be "on location" for three months maximum. Not sure how that fits into all this, but there it is.

`
It is a money pit because of it's corrupt government. The 70 billion dollar debt they are defaulting on is owed the banks, not the US government. It was incurred during the Obama administration. PR can declare bankruptcy and become a ward of wall street. Trump has no power or authority in such debts. Get a clue.

I was referring to US AID-----not the mechanism for
bankrupting the place. Trump ------seems to want
to get PR off his back

Trump's timing can be questioned but his message is on-point. Puerto Rico is plagued by the mismanagement of local government and in debt to the tune of $75 billion dollars:

"Half the working-age men in Puerto Rico do not work."
.......
"Puerto Rico's bloated government also bears much of the blame. Around 30% of the territory's jobs are in the public sector. Among other things, a big and coddled bureaucracy undermines Puerto Rico's educational achievements in two ways. First, nearly half those on the education department's payroll are not teachers; quality has fallen because of low accountability and mismanagement."

Trouble on Welfare Island

The hurricane is tragic but Puerto Rico needs serious reform to address its many self-inflicted problems.

There was NO refusal of Trump Driver to deliver supplies. It never happened. And if one or two didn't it was because their family was in danger or something similar.

I'm guessing you also believed Hillary ran a child porn ring from a Pizza Parlor and Obama was born in Kenya?

FEMA has power lineman and construction workers?

Should give Wall Street title to half of PR and let them build it out as a resort/tax haven. Within a decade with will have a bigger GDP than Florida

FEMA has power lineman and construction workers?

Ya know I thought that was a good question so I went to look for info on it.

stumbled onto this: "
In December 2011, FEMA initiated a bottom-up review (BUR) of the Pre-positioned Equipment Program to assess the validity of the program based on capital investments versus deployments of the Pre-positioned Equipment Program caches. The BUR analysis of the historical data indicates that the pre-positioned equipment resources have not been utilized since 2005 for disaster response and the return on investment has not been realized. Based on the BUR analysis, FEMA proposes to fully eliminate the Pre-Positioned Equipment Programin FY 2013." - (Page 59) https://www.fema.gov/pdf/about/budget/11a_fema_salaries_expenses_dhs_fy13_cj.pdf

----

Anyway, I didn't find specifics on linemen & construction worker positions and most of the stuff FEMA does seems to be outside that kind of scope, but /if/ they do have them, they'd be under "regional" hire (aka they'd work for Puerto Rico government division)

People aren't counting the dead because they are looking for something to eat and a little clean water.

If you're so concerned about those people, drag your fat ass down there and help them.
Yea, they need retired people like me to go and get in the way.

Better the military goes.

Oh, you were trying to make a ridiculous point. One to match the tiny point on top your tiny head.

Regardless of statistics, the people outside of the big cities don't have food, water, medicine or power. They are getting sick. They are dying. That's the reality. And as power and cell service is restored, we are going to know exactly what went on and what is going on. I don't have a good feeling.

Donate your pension money or stop being a leech on society and have yourself euthanized already so those poor brown folks in Puerto Rico can get a bigger slice of that government cheese.
