When Lt. Governor Andre Bauer , while describing the giving of school lunches to children in one of the poorest states in the union, publicly stated that Feeding the poor is like feeding animals, if you feed them theyll breed, I thought this would outrage the conservatives.
After all, this is the party that wants to outlaw abortion. Many even feel the risk is worth it to outlaw abortion even if it puts the mothers life at risk. I find it hard to believe the base supports these positions.
Not only was there no outrage, it seems from this board that many on the right may possibly agree with the Lt. Governor.
How is this NOT a hypocritical position to take?
In fact, looking at what the Republican Party seems to promote is meanness.
No unemployment benefits for people who have earned them after sometimes decades of paying unemployment tax.
Their leaders calling the unemployed names.
Apologies to BP and wanting to put the cost of the cleanup on the victims. Remember, BP was willing to put 20 billion in escrow. Now, with the Republicans apologizing, the last I've heard, they have put nothing in escrow but paid tens of millions in an ad campaign promoting how much they are doing. Were they taking their lead from apologist Republicans?
The right promoting the spending billions in Iraq and none here (of course, without oversight, those companies can make a fortune).
Insurance company CEOs making tens of millions or owning multiple mansions and private jets, while dropping the policies of sick people.
Does the base agree with these policies? I know that many deny these are even the policies, but with the Internet and search engines, anyone can find out the truth in a matter of minutes. I would think they have researched these positions and agree with them, I just don't understand why?
