I chose the words I did to emphasize the more ancient differences between the two primary ideologies in hopes of gaining broader contrasting viewpoints, rather than stereotyping people into extremely galvanizing group labels.

Broadly speaking in terms relatable to the smallest human social group--the primal family unit--liberalism can be embodied by the changing roles of mother and father at different stage of their child's life, as well as can represent a necessary period in the cycle of every child's child-to old age psychological development.

Speaking to ancient parental roles: After giving birth the mother embodies conservatism in her role as the parent who remained home with the newborn, tending its needs while maintaining the dwelling. The father, at this stage of his child's life embodied liberalism in his drive to go out beyond the familiar and known in search of game and trade with other families. Mother/father roles reversed as the child grew older and the mother, now the embodiment of liberalism, pushed the father (now the embodiment of conservatism) to allow the child to be socialized with other families, while the father wants the child to remain home where it is safest.

As the child grows into adulthood, a period of embodiment of liberalism ensues where the child rebels against the traditions and beliefs of the father and leaves home in search of new frontiers to conquer--often motivated by the need to defy the father. Eventually a final period of conservatism follows where after tiring of exploration, the child realizes the traditions of father were valid after all, and so he returns home in mind, and spirit to the teachings of the father, which temper his own, formed over his lifetime.

It does not affect mine that way. I do what I chose and expect the same of others. I am fond of the saying"keep on your side of my gate" which simply means do as you wish elsewhere and I do what I wish here.

Yes. It does--or rather, more poignantly--the lives of younger family members and their parents' recent ordeals with the public school system. I will leave it at that.

Mind your own backyard while I mind mine and we will both get along. I agree with this philosophy up to a point, but what do we do then when government policy enables our neighbor to intrude on our backyard in protection of his rights? A move which reduces our own.

I can understand frustration with the school system. Though I can say it was frustrating in the late 90's when my kids finished as well.

Local politics also has more effect on my life but it rarely involves conservative or liberal or good or evil. Usually it is money or some issue with a pot of money in the middle.

I moved when the city I lived in started requiring me to get a permit to trim my trees.
I moved again when the town I lived in, where I served a term on town council, refused a business license for a pawn shop I wanted to open. Presently I live alone on ten acres, off grid, 16 miles to pavement , 45 miles to a town.. My closest neighbor is two miles and I own the road from there. I don't get bothered much.

We're not too many miles north of Baltimore City, and experiencing more "bleed over" outside the City limits each year. Although it is mainly confined to highway and state road corridors, north and east, there's been an increase in homeless heroine addicts occupying the many fairly deep wooded areas nearby. So in that light, I also see liberal City policies affecting our daily lives where we live and work.

What is the connection between "liberal City policies" and what you are experiencing? I put you around Havre de Grace. How does Baltimore politics affect you? What policies of Baltimore folks on the city council affect what you experience?

I agree with this but generally hesitate to put it in such blunt terms. NOT because it's inaccurate but often because the masses recoil from it. IOW it's not politically useful for scales falling off eyes.

Of course the Overlords know well what they're doing. That's not what I'm talking about. The minions, the masses--they have bought every soundbite. We see it here in the thread--"diversity" and etc. "A woman's right to choose". Every platitude and soundbite.

Again calling them evil is not inaccurate, it's just not immediately useful in most cases. Persuasion is better.
