Discuss the State of the Union Address here?

The fair tax eliminates ALL lobbying on behalf of corporations and special interest groups as the thesis of it ends all government in changing the tax code every other day to favor one interest or another.
And Democrats oppose it for that very reason.

He knock it out of the park and Radical Right Wing Extremist responded with lies.

You call his campaign speech knocking it out of the park??

Mitch Daniels knocked it out of the park with his rebuttal. He actually talked about whats wrong and the fact that we need to fix it. Hell. Barry doesn't even seem to think that there is a problem.

God. Wish that guy would run for POTUS.
Mitch Daniel's rebuttal didn't sound quite right without the laugh track.

They tried to get him into the race earlier and he said that after discussing it with his family they decided to pass.

Guess he doesn't want his family exposed to the meat grinder that is a run for POTUS.

To bad. Daniels has done a great job pulling Indiana out of the fiscal hole it was in. They are now running surpluses.

If you want to be a leader, you roll up your sleeves and do the work to get there, including understanding that you and your family will be under a microscope. Unfortunately, we have too many people now who would rather just sit on the couch and channel surf instead of having the fire in the belly to really be leaders. If he doesn't, i don't want him anyway. Stay home and live the indulgent life, whatever.
Real leaders have the fire inside to pursue leadership. The Final Four of the Repo party are worthy to be standing where they are because they did the work to get there.

After serving in DC through both the Reagan and Bush administrations I can see why he doesn't want back in.

Too bad for America as this guy DOES know how to get it done.

Governor Daniels: About the Governor
He was Bush's OMB director! He shares a huge part of the blame for the fiscal recklessness that got us into a near depression.

A Smart Politics study of the 70 orally delivered State of the Union Addresses since 1934 finds the text of Obama's 2012 speech to have tallied the third lowest score on the Flesch-Kincaid readability test, at an 8.4 grade level.

Obama also delivered the second lowest scoring address in 2011 (at an 8.1 grade level) and the sixth lowest in 2010 (at an 8.8 grade level)

The Flesch-Kincaid test is designed to assess the readability level of written text, with a formula that translates the score to a U.S. grade level. Longer sentences and sentences utilizing words with more syllables produce higher scores. Shorter sentences and sentences incorporating more monosyllabic words yield lower scores.

What is "mailbox money"?

It's a check from the government that shows up in your mailbox.
Farmers get them for not growing crops- setting aside productive farmland to tighten up the market a bit, or setting aside acreage for wildlife. It's a direct compensation.

Or if they restore their land to watershed status, plant trees instead of corn, etc.

Loan deficiency payments (as I understand it) is another example.

This is a "subsidy".

Folks in the oil and gas business don't get subsidies- but they are afforded write-offs for expenses related to their business. Just like all other businesses are.

But for some reason if you're involved in oil and gas, Obama (and the vast majority of liberals) call these "subsidies".

So posting billions in profits isn't enough reason to get rid of the "write-offs"? Wow...thats about the most bizarrely idiotic thing I've ever heard. "Perry for President" was the clubhouse leader until then. Thanks for copping to it though.

Why single out the oil and gas industries?

Oil Industry Profit Margin Ranks #114 Out 215

It's Petrophobia. Carter instituted it and Obama is carrying it forward.

BTW- there are very few (if any) major integrated oil and gas companies operating within the lower 48 states. The vast majority of all activity is done by Independents. These are smaller companies that focus on one or two aspects of the business: drilling, or just production, or maybe a geology or engineering company.

With respect to write-offs, let's say you're a building contractor putting up a good sized home that you intend to sell for $250K.
You go out and buy $100K in materials (a write-off). You hire a half dozen workers to help (a write-off). You put gas in your vehicles (a write-off). The list goes on...

It's no different in oil and gas. BUT... we're told by Obama that it somehow magically is different.

He's a liar and a charlatan. And what's more pathetic is that people are gullible enough to soak up the bullshit that comes out of his mouth.

Dear, few building contractors are making billions in profit. If they are, they shouldn't be getting tax write-offs. You're making Obama's case for him....better than President Obama ever could.

Darling, it takes billions to make billions.
Unlike most industrial endeavors, oil and gas is an insanely capital intensive business.

And these "billions of profit" are realized by a very select few companies- the ones involved worldwide and in the deepest of waters and the harshest of environments. I suggest you study more of what you obviously don't understand.

But in the end, it is about profit margins- the money you make for shareholders above and beyond expenses- including government takes.

And if you refer to my link, you'll see that oil and gas isn't the gravy train GodBama would have us believe.
