In the UK, historically, diesel was always cheaper than petrol. Then, diesel became dearer than petrol, and recently, as much as 25p per litre dearer. Just seems to be a money spinner.

For around a century in America, diesel was always a little over 1/2 the price of gas. It's a byproduct of making gasoline.

The most refined diesel is kerosene.
