Congress critters would go a long way toward establishing credibility if they would be willing to do what they're demanding the president do. The reality is, Congress isn't much more popular than Trump is.
Trump's released enough to disprove the ridiculous complaint that he pays no income taxes.Congress critters would go a long way toward establishing credibility if they would be willing to do what they're demanding the president do. The reality is, Congress isn't much more popular than Trump is.
There's never been an expectation that members of Congress release their tax returns. Just like there was never an expectation for a president to release his long form birth certificate.

like you - i'd love to see a set of criteria that is required to run for office and all parties follow it. if they ask for something *not* on the required list - tough. There is precedent for candidates running for president to release their tax returns. For Congress there is not.
With that said, I'm more than happy to have a law to make it mandatory for all individuals who are running for federal office to release their tax returns. But we're never going to get that level of transparency if we let the president off the hook.
