Uh... it's a political party. As such its prime directive, like any political party, is self-perpetuation. Of course it's going to attempt to channel its own direction. Same thing the RP did with that pledge it made Rump sign. It wants control.

Doesn't mean O'Malley can't say what he wants, or challenge anyone he likes to his own debate. In fact he should do both. There's never been a downside to standing up to the machine except to the machine itself.

I'm actually more concerned that both political parties collude to micromanage the POTUS debates, so that they can be assured there won't be a third party. That's more significant.
