Democrats & Liberals need a wake up call STAT/ Big biz leaving the US

Some 47 companies have moved their headquarters overseas in the last decade to save billions in corporate taxes. While Walgreens has reversed it's decision to relocate to Switzerland to avoid negative publicity their stocks have taken a hit and their shareholders are furious.

Meanwhile here at home the Republicans want to cut corporate tax rates to compete globally the Democrats are content to just call these companies unpatriotic & stamp their feet. Is it unpatriotic? Probably. Will calling them names bring the money back home? Highly unlikely.

US based companies don't "owe" us anything. Like any business the point is to maximize profits and if simply moving your home office stands to net you a cool extra 100m or more per year you'd be foolish to stay despite the name calling from the left.

Why not cut corporate rates and KEEP that money in our economy? Stomping your feet & yelling doesn't pay the bills dummies. Unless of course you want US companies to fund the growth of other countries.

Simple enough solution, buy American made products by companies here in America.

Will you stop watching FoxNews now that it has relocated to Dubai?

No?

You aren't prepared to support local American corporations and instead you are boosting the profits of a corporation who is effectively subsidizing terrorism by locating itself in the middle east.

Unless you stop you are destroying your own credibility around here. Tough choice but we all know that you will continue to support FoxNews and just blame Obama instead because that is easier than doing what is right for America.

Amazingly these were the same knuckle draggers that say that Europe is socialist and Obama was trying to import their systems over here.

Equally amazing is that the "bad for business" policies of Europe--you know the ones Obama wants to install here--are drawing business from the US apparently.

Start spinning guys....you're making as much sense as ever.

I haven't heard Obama mention wanting to install lower corporate tax rates to compete with the tax rate policies in Europe. Did I miss that?

.

They are following their fiduciary (L-E-G-A-L) mandate to maximize shareholder value.

If they do not follow their mandate, they can and will be sued by their shareholders.

It's the best they can do in what is clearly a hostile environment for business.

.

It's not at all hostile.

It should be.

The US should close the foreign investment (tax inversion) loophole asap.

And codify the loss of American Protection, the access to American Markets and the loss of American government contracts.

You'll see how fast these fucks come back to the US.

for taxes paid in foreign countries make sense? I betcha the lobbyists who got that one thru made huge bonuses.

And where are you folks talking about "helping" people.

Oh wait, yeah, you talking about helping rich folks all the time.

But when you talking about cutting?

You want to cut snap. You want to cut welfare. You want to cut education. You want to cut just about anything "helps" the poor and middle class.

And in fact, you want to draw from these folks to pay for the stuff that makes rich folks richer.

Like Military funding.
Like funding agriculture.
Like funding big oil.

I have NEVER heard a conservative talking about cutting a weapon's system.

But I have heard them talk about "fat" poor kids.

Cry me a river..dude.
  • I don't want to cut welfare, that's relatively small potatoes.
  • I don't want to cut education - that which is about students.
  • I'd cut military funding.
  • I'd cut subsidies.

And, deflection noted. Not very graceful, though, you need to work on that.

Wanna try again?

Dude?

.

Sure.

Because NONE of that is ever what you post about or start threads over.

It's always about cutting taxes for big business or the wealthy.

You cannot do that without substantial cuts to the big ticket items.

The biggest of which, is the military.

Go ahead.

See what happens when you post a thread on cutting say 300 billion a year to the military budget.

Your conservative friends her will call you a commie and gay.

Trust me on that.

:D

I can't trust an uninformed Obama lover. Military spending comes in 3rd.

2014 Federal budget spending .

Health care 27%
Pensions 25%
Military 22%
Welfare 11%

EU nations impose import tariffs on goods made outside their borders. If you want lower corporate taxes raise import tariffs to make up the difference. Then corporations can stay here and pay lower taxes or move overseas and have to compete with the overhead of the tariffs.

frankly, I find it amusing that you want to pay higher taxes so these companies can get a tax break.

Conservatism is a form of Stockholm Syndrome.

The military is a net drain on the economy. The military produces neither goods nor services. It is a consumer rather than a producer. From a genuine fiscal conservative position the funding spent on the military could be better invested elsewhere and produce a greater ROI.

That doesn't mean that there is no need for the military but the current spending level is a net drain on the economy. The Cold War closing of military bases and the reduction in spending freed up funds that resulted in the greatest economic expansion in the history of the nation in the 1990's as investors looked elsewhere for opportunities.

If military spending was halved the economy would take off again.

The real problem is that the Military has been a form of Keynesian economics on Steroids. Weapon systems where the components are made in all 50 states so everyone gets a cut, military bases that are kept open to provide jobs, and have more civilian workers on them than uniformed personnel. More Generals in today's Army than we had during World War II.

I swear, it's in their freakin' genes.

Control, intimidation, capitulation, submission.

Bizarre.

.
Really? Who's the party that keeps submitting repeals to Obamacare.....after Obama was elected on it, Supreme Court approved it....exaggerate much?

Was this meant to be a non sequitur?

It's definitely an attempt at deflection, but I'm not sure about the non sequitur part.

.
It was an attempt at stupidity and false equivalence. It succeeded!

It's Republican's wanting to control who doesn't get healthcare....also....the Hobby Lobby thingie....don't act like you don't get it. Ok, maybe it's not an act?

Please. You are so stupid, so ill informed, it is embarassing that an adult could post that crap and not blush. It could be refuted by a 5year old. On crack.

Absolutely correct sallow. Cut off those companies from the largest consumer market in the world and see how long those companies shareholders (the ones Mac is so concerned about) are happy about losing the American market. Bet that loss of business is much greater than the tax avoidance scheme that are trying to use.

What is really a shame is that these supposed "high taxes" won't drive the likes of a Grandpa out of the country.

Get the fuck out Gramps. Taxes and living conditions are much better in any other country that will have you.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

But face it. You and your kind ain't going no where. You got it to good right here. Bitching all the while about how bad you got it.

Just like those fucked up American companies avoiding their taxes by moving off shore.

Hey Zeke, why is your standard response to cut off, punish, tax, and jail anyone who disagrees with you? Could it be you're still mad at losing out on the cleaning job to illegal illiterate migrant workers?

"Who doesn't get healthcare"? Really? Do you really believe that?

Where is the intimidation of a small business owner? Where is the intimidation of an average person who dares to say something you think is "offensive"? Where are the consequences being meted out to someone who disagrees, such as the destruction of a career? And WHAT ABOUT the "Hobby Lobby thingie"? A private company has to defend itself against your threats and intimidation.

Look, I realize you're trying. But your deflection is just becoming more pronounced.

Republicans have been practicing "control" since before sliced bread....are you another of those playing dumb? Oh, sorry, you're not playing.....you actually are dumb.

In a sense the GOP is encouraging corporations to move.
Senate Republicans block bill to end tax breaks for outsourcing
Currently, U.S. companies can deduct from their corporate taxes some expenses of moving facilities overseas. Democrats said 2.4 million jobs have been outsourced in the past 10 years.
“It is wrong that American workers subsidize a corporate decision to pack up American jobs and ship them overseas,” Walsh said Wednesday. “That’s bologna.”
Republicans argue that if Democrats truly wanted to keep companies in the United States, they would work with Republicans to overhaul the tax code and reduce corporate tax rates.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) blocked Republicans from offering amendments to the bill, which is why they voted against advancing the bill.
“We Democrats are lined up against outsourcing,” Reid said ahead of the vote. “A vote against this bill is a vote against American jobs.”
The legislation was part of Democrats’ “Fair Shot” campaign ahead of the midterm elections. If Republicans vote against cloture, Democrats will likely use the vote against them in November, saying Republicans support Big Business more than creating middle-class jobs.

Now I do agree with the GOP regarding working in a bi-partisan manner to address corporate taxes. We always hear about lower the corporate rate and closing corporate loopholes, which is the ideal scenario. The big question is, will corporations hire a ton of attorneys/accountants to wiggle around the tax loophole reforms/laws like they have done before. Remember when GE had a entire floor of attorneys/accountants when they paid zero in taxes?

Why should anyone want to pay corporate taxes when they already pay personal income and capital gains taxes. Makes no sense that people look at tax avoidance as unpatriotic. Nutz. You want companies to stay it's damn easy, make it more profitable to stay than leave.

Do you have a list of the 47 companies so I can boycott them?

Basically what they are doing is laundering money. Money they earned from selling stuff to Americans. These corporations have no problem profiting from us and taking advantage of our lax laws so screw them.

Funny whine from a dummy that is having a hissy fit over companies that hire cheap labor.

There will be a day of reckoning for businesses who perform this coldly capitalist stunt.

Yes, it's called increased unemployment because "trickle up" hasn't worked for Obama in creating a strong economy. Then perhaps the flood of illegals will slow because another country will have a better opportunity of finding them employment. On the other hand, we are one of the very few nations with an open door policy supported by lax immigration laws.
