‘Democracy Is Done’ If Trump Wins White House In 2024, Warns Fiona Hill

We're a representative Democracy.

You want a republic so you can limit people.
The point is to limit democracy - for its own good. Unlimited democracy is unstainable, as we're seeing. The more power we give government, the more dysfunctional democracy becomes.

No, your point isn't to limit democracy. In a democracy we all vote on the things that we want our government to do.

You want a republic because you want to limit voting, choices of the people and increase your authoritarian beliefs.

Then why isn't the death penalty in 50 states?

Correct. It's the point of the Constitution.

Unlimited democracy isn't viable. It puts the minority completely at the mercy of the majority. I'd never sign up for that. Would you?

If the court overturns abortion and diversity programs are they tacitly making law?

SCOTUS interprets the limits placed on democracy by the Constitution. Those limits are what makes democracy sustainable. As they have been eroded, democracy has become more and more dysfunctional.

Okay where in the Constitution can I find where it delineates a position on abortion and diversity programs?

It's right below the lines that grant Congress the power to legislate on abortion or force diversity.

Maybe that was too subtle. The above lines don't exist. The Constitution doesn't grant Congress the power to legislate on abortion or force diversity. That's how it limits the power of the government. By not granting it in the first place.

Just how did the Articles of Confederation work out for you?

Are you missing the supremacy clause? To promote the general welfare? Privacy?

Yep. This is an example of what I was referring to when I mentioned how the Constitution has been eroded. There are those who want unlimited democracy, and they've been working since the ink dried to remove limits on the power of the federal government. I assume you are among that group.

Good news, you're winning! The Court has allowed you to expand the scope and power of government many times over. It's failing to limit democracy, and democracy is failing as a result.

Define "unlimited democracy" for us.

Yeah, define what you call unlimited democracy.

Then ask yourself what we have in America, so you can compare them.
The Constitution LIMITS the power of the Federal Government specifically by only granting specific powers to legislate things by Congress. No where does the Constitution grant to the Congress or the Courts the right to an abortion or force diversity. Or perhaps you can link to the clause allowing it?
