This week, President Obama said it is “heart-breaking” that his administration has not passed more gun control, and he pledged to continue pushing the subject for the rest of his presidency. But at least one Democrat strategist wishes Obama would drop the gun control push already.
The difficulty in dropping the issue, as far as Democrats are concerned, is that it is also being pushed by Democrat surrogates–like Everytown for Gun Safety. And these surrogates are going to keep pushing no matter what Obama does.

You guys don't care about gun violence...you care that Americans own guns....if you cared about gun violence you would actually focus on gun violence.....which would mean....

the accurate number for gun murders is 8,454 for 2013, committed mainly by criminal gangs in inner cities...so if you want to reduce that gun violence you would need to actually address teenagers having children, who have children and on and on, living in communities where there are no adult role models demonstrating civilized behavior, where the only real role models are gang members and drug dealers.....

But that would actually solve the gun murder problem...which you aren't interested in.....

It would also mean teaching gun safety in schools as part of the Fire Safety problem...which would reduce the small number of child gun accidents each year and the adult gun accidents as those children grow up....but you don't really care about dead kids or gun accidents...it gives you too much propaganda value since it is the gun you are interested in and not the gun accident.....

And you bitch and moan about guns killing people...and then each thing you suggest doesn't deal with that problem....background checks, gun registration, magazine limits....not one of those items would keep guns out of the hands of people who use them to commit murder...

But.....it would make it harder for regular Americans to get and own guns....which is what you care about.....

So please....don't tell us you care about gun violence......since you don't care about the other ways people murder each other.....since more people are killed with knives, or clubs or hands and feet than all long guns and AR-15s in particular...but you guys obsess over AR-15s....

But, back to the problems with the new and improved 22 times number.

#1) Dr. Kellerman initially failed to state how he determined that the gun used belonged in the home or had been brought into it by someone else. Four years later he wrote a letter to the NEJM with a correction stating that in follow-up interviews it was determined that in 63% of the cases the gun was organic to the household. So, 0.63 times 22 means you’re only 13.6 times more likely to be ki . . . etc. (I think I’ll start using the acronym TMLTBKBAGIYHTTKAI . . . or, better yet we’ll just use TML (times more likely). So, that has reduced the 22 TML figure down to 13.6.

#2) Dr. Kellerman failed to account for other risk factors like drug use, criminals or criminal activity in the home. According to his study’s Table 3, 53% of the case study households contained at least one adult who had been arrested. So 0.47 times 13.64 leaves 6.4 TML.

#3) Most of the killings didn’t actually occur “in the home,” Oops! According to Kellerman’s own figures, only 23.9% of the homicides happened in the home of the victim. So, 0.239 times 6.4 gives us 1.5321812 so let’s call it 1.5 TML, shall we?

#4) Kellerman’s study includes suicides committed with guns. The problem with that is he did no research to determine if the “victim” acquired the weapon solely in order to commit suicide or if they used it as a “method of opportunity.” And despite the antis claims to the contrary, numerous studies have shown that suicide rates are independent of method. In other words, taking away guns may reduce the gun suicide rate, but non-gun suicides will increase enough to offset this.

#5) And the biggest problem of all: Dr. Kellerman seems to believe that killing someone is the only way to use a gun defensively (one wonders, then, what he thinks of police departments who routinely arrestpeople instead of killing them). But according to Dr. Kleck’s study Targeting Guns (as cited on page 19of Gun Facts ver. 6.0) in less than 0.1% of DGUs is the attacker killed. Indeed, in 92% of DGUs the victim merely brandishes the weapon or fires a warning shot.

It is disturbing, to say the least, that rabid RWs toss off the slaughter of innocent children with a mean-spirited, lackadaisical insult.

And if you figure in government murder...the murder rate in Europe is far above that in the United States.....since a disarmed population led to the killing of millions of Europeans.....

Then you have the good that guns do.....on average guns are used in the United STates to stop or prevent violent criminals attack and save lives 1.6 million times a year....a lot more than they are used for crime...in particular gun murder which in 2013 was only 8,454....mostly by gangs in inner city hell holes, small, multi block areas......

Since most Americans don't have to put up with gun violence, Europeans don't know what they are talking about...considering they only know America from the democrat, gun grabbing press.......

And we do a lot.....criminals can't own guns or carry them......just like in Europe.....

And in Europe...when their criminals want or need guns..they get them easily......just like in the states.....
