Politicians deliberately misuse the accepted definitions of words.

That is a given.

No one expects the politicos to act differently anymore.

But, as with all things ....... no matter how commonplace things are.....THERE ARE OBVIOUS LIMITS !!!

The Brilliant Stanford Prof Thomas Sowell analyzes the TWO most egregious Political Machinations of DELIBERATELY Misused words, or concepts, in the History of American Politics.

Prof Sowell's analysis comes in TWO PARTS.

Here is the link to Prof Sowell's First Part:

Misleading Words - Page 1 - Thomas Sowell - Townhall Conservative

Consists of 2 pages.

Unfortunately it's done all the time and certainly isn't a left-right thing. What about "partial birth abortion" and "death panels"? They din't appear anywhere in our political discourse or textbooks until the right created them out of whole cloth.

Hmmm...a baby is partially birthed, in breech fashion leaving most of the head still inside mommy, a sharp instrument is stuck into the base of its skull in order to scramble its little brain, and then they suck the stuff out of its head. And complete the "delivery."

It's partially birthed and then aborted (read:murdered), hence the phrase 'partial birth abortion.'

The best conclusion is usually based on the degree of the misrepresentation of the word, or concept.

And, unfortunately, that degree of the misrepresentation of the word, or concept is determined by the political bias of the person adjudicating the issue.

Admittedly, I am a vehement Anti-Liberal ( definitely not a Conservative, probably not even a Republican......although I will most definitely vote Republican against any Obamarrhoidal agenda).

As such, IMO, "partial birth abortion" ( and I am for the choice of abortion up to the point when the protoplasm can be reasonably determined that the protoplasm doesn't get any pain).....is not a misuse of the description of the process......not by a long shot !. As a matter of fact, it is the exactly correct definition of the process.

Blastoff's post's definition, and/or vile description of "partial abortion", grossly misrepresents the process of "partial birth abortion" which is commonly and politically determined to be based on TRIMESTER CONSIDERATIONS !!! which I summarized it to be. Blastoff's horrendous description applies to some of the more horrible aspects of " ABORTION.....and, specifically, Abortion in the Final Stages". Blastoff is deliberately grossly misrepresenting "partial birth abortion' to suit his "pro-life" agenda based on the religious mumbo-jumbo that the fetus is inviolable at the moment of conception because it has the fantasy "soul", etc.

Neither is the term "death panel"...... IMO, that is precisely the correct definition of what will be determined, and actually is determined in European Socialized Medicine (and the projected ObummerCare) because under European Socialized Medicine the presently accepted practice of treating the elderlies' longevity in America is light years from the treatment that is ALLOWED under European Socialized Medicine ....which, for all intents and purposes......serves as a DEATH PANEL for rendering its comparable LACK of services available to the elderly in the European Socialized Medicine (and, the projected ObummerCare, which is modeled after the European Socialized Medicine).
