These big numbers can't last. The gravitational pull of the business cycle will eventually end the profit bonanza, in part because many companies carried out brutal layoffs during the recession and will now be forced to hire more workers to maintain their growth. So let's enjoy it as a heroic but fleeting moment, not a durable new age.
Da*n, we need to read the whole article before posting. If Obama had his way these companies wouldn't be turning profits, they'd be paying the government instead of hiring folks.

They aren't "hiring folks". They are just raking in record profits.

There is nothing to debate here. Our wealth and job creators fear and loathe the Owebama Administration, and the feeling is quite mutual:
Jan. 22 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. investors overwhelmingly see President Barack Obama as anti-business and question his ability to manage a financial crisis, according to a Bloomberg survey.
The global quarterly poll of investors and analysts who are Bloomberg subscribers finds that 77 percent of U.S. respondents believe Obama is too anti-business and four-out-of-five are only somewhat confident or not confident of his ability to handle a financial emergency.
The poll also finds a decline in Obamas overall favorability rating one year after taking office. He is viewed favorably by 27 percent of U.S. investors. In an October poll, 32 percent in the U.S. held a positive impression.
Investors no longer feel they can trust their instincts to take risks, said poll respondent David Young, a managing director for a broker dealer in New York.'

That's what they are supposed to do.
His policies DO prevent profits. He demonizes those profits and gets in the way as much as possible. Since such companies are not going to take hits to their bottom line, they simply move their labor forces elsewhere as they have been doing for a decade. Big surprise. Cause massive healthcare costs to companies here, they hire less Americans. Tax more, less people working. Increase EPA regulations, you guessed it, fewer people getting hired. The sad part is all you blathering liberals can complain about is the tax code that and increasing what those evil companies raking in all that ill gotten money are paying to it. Newsflash, raising the tax code is not going to do shit.Da*n, we need to read the whole article before posting. But I thought Obama did have his way and it was his policies that were preventing private business from making money.
Weird how you idiots never can stay consistent with the bullshit you spew.
The Right just can't seem to find it's narrative on this can they? "Obama the socialist"... and yet Fortune 500 companies are raking in bigger profits than ever. (while paying the lowest tax rate they've ever paid)
What a Commie that Obama is, huh?

Fix our asinine trade policy and we might actually go back to having a strong middle class. No one on the left or right seems to want to address this though. Hmm... wonder why that is....
BTW, it is not the fortune 500 and the mega corporations that Obama is killing. It is the local and small businesses that do not have slave labor from Thailand to sew their 100 dollar shoes together. Perhaps we should be looking at those statistics instead of focusing on the massive companies that can weather any policy change with foreign prospects.
