Dallas Police officer Amber Guyger indicted for murder (FULL STORY UPDATE)
-Three months ago, she shot an innocent unarmed black man in his own apartment, mistaking him for an intruder who broke into her apartment
-Claims to have fired warning shots, and felt her life was in danger
-Took a few weeks for Dallas Police to fire her
-Manslaughter charges upgraded to murder charges

Do you think its fair or unfair she has been indicted for murder? Also, does being indicted for murder mean being charged with murder? So now she has to either plead guilty or not guilty and take it to trial?

This has nothing to do with being ‘fair’ or ‘unfair.’

The prosecution has evidence it believes justifies the murder charge.

Guyger is a criminal defendant presumed to be innocent who will be afforded comprehensive due process.

If her prosecution is unwarranted, she will be acquitted at trial.

But if she is indicted of murder, doesn't that mean prosecutors have substantial evidence already

It's very rare that it is determined that the victim did not do it to himself, so I'm relieved to read once in a great while that there's a chance that justice might be served.

depends on that states laws...murder has degrees that deal with premeditation

something was up with this....the neighbors heard her knocking and yelling....she knew the guy from something before i would bet....

it was murder

It’s a rarity when police officers are afforded the same criminal justice process as the rest of us. When it does happen... It’s a result of the system trying to distance itself from that officers actions, and the subsequent fallout.
Still it’s nice to see once in a while. Things would go more smoothly for everyone involved if there were no two tier justice system...

It seems if they're charging her with murder, it was premeditated. Only time will tell.
You are right that time will tell. As written, she should be charged with murder, but it will take a trial to bring out enough facts to make an informed decision. Why did she mistake the victim's apartment for her own.. was it same number, different floor? Wouldn't furniture immediately tell her it was the wrong unit? Lots of questions to be answered IMHO. Meantime, like everyone else, she deserves a fair judgement and justice must be served.

Even with the lights off, I could tell it was not my apartment pretty quickly. She parked on the wrong level of the parking deck and was on the wrong floor of the apartment building. Neighbors said they heard a woman yelling "Let me in, Let me in".

Yo, if it was left up to District Attorney-Elect, S. Democrat John Creuzot, she would be shot because she is a White Cop! The charges against her, are just trumped up charges, they do that because the charges will fall to Manslaughter, lets face it, she had no motive to kill! The S. Democrats in Dallas County will try for a 1st Degree Murder Charge, just to Appease their Radical Protesting Mob (voters) but will fail, and Rambo never went to Law School, Damn You`re Good Rambo!!!

OJ got off for murder
most of the police shootings are justifiable
the system is not perfect and never will be
many people [civilians ] are found innocent when they are guilty/thought of as guilty/etc
I thought Zimmerman was guilty of manslaughter, but he got off--he's not a cop
etc
provide evidence
you will always have some people[ cops also ] that are not charged/found guilty

the cop IS being charged in this case!!!!!!!!!!! and rightly so
....I put out a thread on police shootings long ago--not many responded to my evidence that most police shootings are justifiable including

If it really was a mistake, she is not guilty of murder. The only reason they are charging her with murder is because the victim is black.
