Cynthia McKinney Aboard Boat Headed for Gaza, Intercepted by Israeli Naval Force

Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney, unimpeded by the "closed military zone" imposed by Israel, was among 16 people aboard a medical supply boat that collided with an Israeli naval ship Tuesday as it tried to enter coastal waters around Gaza.

The yacht, owned by the U.S.-based Free Gaza Movement, was reportedly carrying 3.5 tons of medical supplies donated by Cyprus. A press release from the group claimed "several Israeli gunboats intercepted the Dignity she was heading on a mission of mercy to Gaza." They said the Israeli military fired machine guns into the water in an attempt to stop the Dignity's progress.

The boat, registered under the flag of Gibraltar and with an English captain, reportedly took on water and experienced engine problems, according to the group's Web site. It also said the incident occurred 90 miles offshore in international water. The boat's captain was given permission to dock in Lebanon, where it was regrouping to try again.

Israel's foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor told Reuters that an Israeli vessel and the 60-foot Free Gaza Movement boat did make "physical contact," but only after the aid boat failed to respond to radio contact. He denied any gunfire had occurred, and he said no one was hurt in the incident. He told Reuters the Israeli ship escorted the damaged boat back to Cypriot territorial waters.

That's the Fox News account .. but according to McKinney, the boat was rammed three times.

Cynthia needs to get a grip. What does she think she's doing? She single-handedly going to be the new "Exodus"? :cuckoo:

Good publicity, though. I'm sure it will get her lots of Israel-hating support... well, maybe.

She's doing what most politicians don't have the balls to do. She's taking a stand. If she wanted good publicity she'd be kissing Israeli ass just like everybody else. Publicity and "being liked" has never been her motivation. No matter what you may think of her, she is unafraid to take a stand whether it costs her a career or her life .. something that seems strangely unfamiliar to you.

Wounded Palestinian children are going unattended with proper medical treatment and here you are throwing bricks at someone who's trying to get them needed help. Where is the humanitarian in you .. regardless of what you think about Israel or the Palestinians, what in the hell is that? Wounded Israeli children are getting proper treatment, but you believe non-Israeli's shouldn't.

    That's deep.

She may take a stand, but she's a loon. A lot of nutty people are quite firm in their beliefs.

Nah... you just likje the idea of no Israel... because heaven forbid Israeli's defend themselves from missile-launching terrorists. Oh no, can't have that.

The targets the Israeli's are going for are Hamas targets.... the Pals have a really ugly history of putting their kids in front of bombs and soldiers... that way they can tell the gullible how the big mean Israeli's killed them.

You don't think Israel should exist. So I'm kind of thinking you don't have it's best interests at heart. The Palestinians could have had a state. Arafat walked away from the table. And the terrorists in Hamas aren't interested in any peace.... it would put them out of business. And unless they wake up and decide to accept a two-state solution that allows an intact Israel, well, they're going to keep getting themselves into trouble.

But this is what the terrorists of Hamas wanted, anyway.
