YES......they fudge the numbers...and basically its a poll....an attitude poll and it means nothing.....

Not in this case, the article is correct that the UM Consumer Sentiment Index for Jan 2019 is at the lowest level (monthly) that it's been since Trump took office (actually lowest since 10/2016) however doesn't really mean much since it's just one month and there is a lot going on that's dragging on sentiment.

Personally I'll be concerned if/when it becomes a sustained down trend over a statistically significant period of time.

It means nothing.....the difference for consumer sentiment between Monday and Friday is large.....and the lower number could be for any reason...like the fact Pelosi is back in charge of the house....the timing is right.....
