The only reason BR would even recognize the truth is so that they could be sure to lie about it.

BR is the epitomy of Birthers- lies, speculation and innuendo.

And lots and lots of hate.

The article is right. Ted Cruz is not a natural born citizen. The facts of that are clear.

"No lies??"

From their site ... "Only two requirements to be "natural born": born here in the US, and both parents are citizens at the time of birth. Simple."

Nowhere, and I repeat, nowhere is that definition codified in U.S. law.

Three sentences.
Three lies.

Ted Cruz renounced his Canadian citizenship. His loyalties are not in question.

No lies. Only truth and fact.

Nope. BR offers this definition of natural born citizen:

  • § 212. Citizens and natives~The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. ~US Legal Dictionary
His source being 'US Legal Dictionary'. But when you check the actual source on a site other than BR report, you get the Law of Nations from Emerich Vattel. Not 'US Legal Dictionary'. Even the numbering of § 212 is directly from the Law of Nations.

CHAP. XIX.
OF OUR NATIVE COUNTRY, AND SEVERAL THINGS THAT RELATE TO IT.

....

§ 212. Citizens and natives.

The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens

Vattel The Law of Nations Book I

Showing us a demonstrable, explicit and verifiable falsehood perpetrated by BR. A falsehood that is central to their argument. And why BR is an unreliable source.

This equally demonstrates how useless Steve is in determining accuracy. As he never fact checked BR, never spotted the blatant, clumsy lie. Demonstrating either dishonesty or incompetence. Either which renders his personal opinion on the accuracy of a source as questionable at best, and useless at worst.

Ted Cruz renounced his Canadian citizenship. His loyalties are not in question.

Has Cruz *actually* renounced his Canadian citizenship? Or simply said he renounced his Canadian Citizenship? These aren't the same thing.

Doesn't matter.

For the small hard core who lied to themselves about who a natural born citizen so that they could deny that a black man is president- Cruz cannot be a natural born citizen.

For the rest of the Birthers- everybody is assumed to be eligible except Barack Obama.

Well, I admit that they are equal opportunity critics. If they had ONLY slammed BHO, the far right would be drooling....but they also slam the Texas loon Cruz. So they are crazies? You RW loons are so transparent and predictable.

Defining Natural Born Citizen IVN.us

By these very definitions of the law, it would appear that Sen. Cruz is a natural born citizen and thus meets the qualifications to run for President if he decided to do so. This also does one more thing, as well. In regards to President Obama, if the “birther” theory had been proven correct (and I’m not saying that it is) in that he had been born in Kenya (instead of Hawaii) to his US mother and his Kenyan father, he would still qualify as a natural born citizen.

Personally, I would love to see Cruz as the GOP candidate in 2016. He would represent their values perfectly.

Not really. As it makes claims that are factually inaccurate. For example, it relies heavily on Vattels 'Law of Nations', which was first printed in English in 1760. But the 1760 version of Vattel's Law of Nations has no reference to 'natural born citizens'. Not once in the entire book. Here's the passage about 'Natives and Citizens' from Vattel's 1760 English version, printed in London:

vattel-1760.gif

Notice the word 'natural born citizen' doesn't appear anywhere. Instead, it refers to 'Indigenes'. Which perfectly matches the original French and means 'indigenous'. Here's the 1783 English edition of Vattel's Law of Nation, this time printed in America:

vattel-1787-american-edition.gif

Again, no mention of natural born citizens. Only 'Indigenes'. Which doesn't mean natural born citizen. The first appearance of the word 'Natural Born Citizen' in Vattel's English translation was in 1797....

§ 212. Citizens and natives.
The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights.

Vattel's Law of Nation, 1797 English Edition

Two problems with this in terms of defining the term 'natural born citizen' in the Constitution. First, the US Constitution was written in 1787. 10 years before the term 'natural born citizen' was ever used in Vattel's Law of Nations. Making it a physical impossibility for the Law of Nations to be the source of the definition of 'natural born citizen' in the constitution....without a Delorian and a flux capacitor. Cause precedes effect. It doesn't follow it by more than a decade.

Second, the word 'indigenes' from the original French still doesn't translate into 'natural born citizen'. Look at the original french and you'll see see the words 'citoyen' clearly written, which means citizen.

Vattel.jpg

The word 'citizen' never appears within indigenes or anywhere particularly close to it. The 1797 translation doesn't match the original text. And its 10 years too late to matter to the US constitution. Making it impossible for Vattel's Law of Nations to be the source of the meaning of 'natural born citizen' in the constitution. Twice.

All of which the Birther Report knows. But really really hopes you don't.

A lie. Even if he was born in Kenya he would not have been born a natural born Citizen. And not even a Citizen. Due to the immigration laws in 1961, his mom was too young to give him citizenship. She was 18 at his birth but needed to be 19. She was some 3 months shy of her 19th birthday in November to be able to pass citizenship to him at his birth.

A lie....like your claim that Vattel's Law of Nations was the source of the Founders definition of 'natural born citizen'....despite the fact that the English version of the the text never uses the term 'natural born citizen' until 1797....10 years AFTER the constitution had already been written?

And of course, the original french word is 'indigenes'. Which doesn't mean 'natural born citizen'. The word citoyen' means citizen. And it isn't used anywhere near the term 'indigenes' in Vattel's original French. So the 1797 edition is both 10 years too late to be relevant to the constitution, and doesn't match the original text.

Remember, Steve....I fact check. So if you're going to make a bullshit claim, I'm probably going to catch you doing it.
