"The American doctor who has offered to treat Charlie Gard has attended a meeting at Great Ormond Street Hospital, to help decide whether the 11-month-old will go to the US for treatment.

Michio Hirano, a professor of neurology at the Columbia University Medical Centre in New York, spent around four and a half hours inside the hospital on Monday."

Great Ormond Street Hospital specialists say that treatment will not work, and the little boy’s life support should be turned off.

His parents, from Bedfont, west London, have already lost battles in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. They also failed to persuade European Court of Human Rights judges to intervene.

Mr Justice Francis has considered the couple’s latest claims at preliminary hearings in the Family Division of the High Court in London over the last few days.

He is due to stage further hearings later this month following this week’s specialist gathering.

The Orthopedic Surgeon (He is a top leg surgeon) my wife works for goes to South America for 2 weeks a few times a year and operates on children free of charge. There a hundreds of kids that can walk today because of him (btw, he's a Conservative). Race, creed, color, sex, political affiliation, or religious identity have no bearing on who he operates on.

As far as Baby Charlie goes, let's say he was your child. Without intervention he has a 100% chance of dying. Let's also say that with an experimental treatment that has a 20% chance of living, you would withhold treatment and say "Fuuk it, let the little breast leech bastard die".

When I was in a psychology class in high school we took a field trip to a State Home. They housed many people that had issues beyond your imagination. I saw a 31 year old female there that had stopped growing in any way, shape, manner, or form when she was 3 months old. She was still an infant in every way. What quality of life did she have? When it became known that she had a defect should the doctors; because she, according to you, did not have "quality of life"; have stuck scissors into the base of her skull? Or how about the 12 year old (couldn't tell if it was male or female because of no sex organs) that was blind, deaf, and mute with no arms or legs? Should that person get the scissor treatment? It certainly didn't have quality of life.

That brings us to Baby Charlie, and his right to life, regardless of whether or not he lives with a handicap. If the treatment that MAY be offered (the British government/court is only allowing assessment of his condition, at this point) can be even slightly successful, what gives you the right to decide how much quality of life is needed to allow him to live? You, in effect, want to jam the scissors and go have a beer.

You want to kill infants because "Mommy" didn't want to have a baby and was too stupid to use birth control, or because a child won't have a quality of life you deem to be acceptable. While on the other hand you want to spare the life of a violent, heinous convicted criminal sentenced to death.

I think your priorities would amount to you having a reduced quality of life and should be dealt with accordingly.
