CNN Special Monday night at 10PM Eastern: CNN Special Report: Why Trump Won - CNN Video

Fareed Zakaria gets to eat crow. Will he be honest? Biased? Let's see. I'll be working but have set it up on the DVR.

‘WHY TRUMP WON’ – Fareed Zakaria on the Reshaping of American Politics
Donald Trump’s victory on Nov. 8, 2016, shocked the American political establishment. WHY TRUMP WON, tells the story of the signals many missed, but were there all along. Fareed Zakaria points to himself – “I got it wrong,” he says – as he explores the cultural forces that propelled Trump towards his historic presidential win in a new CNN Special Report, WHY TRUMP WON, that will premiere Monday, July 31, at 10:00pm Eastern on CNN/U.S. and CNN International.

WHY TRUMP WON shows how Trump has worked towards closing the ultimate deal – winning the White House – for decades. Trump attended his first Republican National convention in 1988 and competed for the Reform Party nomination in 1999. And, through print ads, television interviews, and social media, Trump has carefully tailored his political messages over the years and ultimately persuaded millions to join his powerful political army.

In WHY TRUMP WON, Zakaria reports on families falling apart: depression, drugs, desperation, and finally resentment taking root in some American communities, supplanting what had been flourishing middle class optimism. Under a veneer of rosy 2016 stock market and jobs statistics, was a decades-long crumbling of middle class culture and a long-simmering loss of faith in institutions.

David Betras, chairman of Ohio’s Mahoning County Democratic Party, is frustrated that “a man who [uses] gold-plated toilets” became the political bannerman for middle America, but Betras feels Hillary Clinton and the Democrats lost as definitively as Donald Trump won in 2016. Betras says working class people in Mahoning felt Democrats, the “party of the people,” had left them. And, they channeled their frustrations into electoral victories last year for Donald Trump that were decisive in what some described as an earthquake of an election.

Others with insights into Trump's historic vanquishing include conservative culture columnist and author, David Brooks (The Road to Character, 2016); political historian and author, Thomas Frank (Listen, Liberal: Or, What Every Happened to the Party of the People?, 2017); journalist and author George Packer (The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America, 2014); Trump ghost writer Tony Schwartz (Trump: The Art of the Deal, 1989), and statistician and author Nate Silver (The Signal and the Noise, 2012)

WHY TRUMP WON will encore Monday, Aug. 14 at 9:00pm Eastern on CNN/U.S.. In addition to the telecasts, WHY TRUMP WON will also stream live for subscribers via CNNgo on July 31 (at www.CNN.com/go and via CNNgo apps for Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire, Samsung Smart TV, and Android TV) and on the CNN mobile apps for iOS and Android. Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 1, this Fareed Zakaria CNN Special Report will also be available on demand via cable/satellite systems, CNNgo platforms, and CNN mobile apps.

My favorite Muslim lecturer is going to splain the phenomenon that is Donald Trump? Gosh I wonder what he will say? Actually I don't wonder because he is a plagiarist partisan asshole.

CNN saw it coming miles away, so of course they should report on it.

Well, given the source, I'll predict that they'll surmise that Trump won because Americans are (a) stupid and (b) racist.

And, I'll also predict that zero (0) scrutiny will be given to the elements of the party whose behaviors so many Americans find so repellent.
.
Doubtful. Gentleman's bet?

Expect this Whitewash to be something like:

"We CoastalCocksuckerRottingCityElitistSocialistsAssholes failed to notice how stupid the Heartland American had become in just the last 8 years."

They'll report Brittany Spears taking a dump if it drew in viewers and, therefore, advertising dollars. It's all about the money. God Bless America!

Sure, let's see how it goes.

Betcha.

I'm DVR'ing it, so I won't be able to see it until I get back to the US on Tuesday night (will watch Wednesday AM), but don't worry about spoiling it for me. :D

Why did Trump win the election?

Simple

The country was sick of Democrat lies and Obama failures.

And the crook Hillary offered nothing but more of the same. ....
I agree, but let's be honest, even Trump was surprised by the win. God Bless America!

It appears that you have been verified this week.
You believe over 62 million Americans are stupid and racist? How much hate and ignorance does it take to believe about half of American voters are evil and/or stupid?

Trump won because the democrat slogan was "we hate you". They expect to win in 2020 with their new slogan "We really hate you this time."

Trump won because he had a message you might not agree with it but he had one and he worked for every vote add that with the fact Hillary really had no message and acted as though being the next President was her right and was just a weak candidate along with her other issuses that are well known there is really no mystery as to why Trump won.

You took that the complete opposite way as I intended. However, CNN has finally reached that fantasy conclusion over the course of this week.

It's so bad for DEPLORABLES they need a teddy blanket and relive the election over and over and over again. Just like our insecure child prez. He can't go out anywhere without mentioning it.

Desperate attempt to use Trump to boost ratings. No need to watch - Hillary sucked.

'Nuff said.

:p

Will CNN's self described "special report" be about why the polls that predicted Hillary victory were faulty? Probably not. Will the special report focus on Hillary's shortcomings and alleged criminal negligence? Probably not. My guess is that it will be more whining and racial junk.

I have the best memory of the election and I love reliving it. Let me tell my story of election night:

So I was in jail outnumbered by ******* 20-1, Trump was declared the winner around 11:00 PM and the ******* started lighting rolls of toilet paper on fire and hurling them at the CO's and the entire SERT riot squad had to come in and put them down. Many caught new charges for arson while in jail.

Great times.
