Citi Bank may have stepped in it

Heard calls to pull their charter too.....

It would seem the entity that "stepped in it" is sixteen more Congressional fascists who want to dictate to a private company how to run their business.

Well, it's good to know who they are. Will be a useful list in about seven months.

The bank has no "anti-Second Amendment policies". How do I know that? I read the link.

It's not a private company. It's a publicly held one with a corporate charter which can be revoked.

Holy crap!!!

That's some seriously bad math.

Citibank does not have a contract that pays them $700 billion to do some work for the GSA.

What do have that says that is not accurate? It could be over a 10 year period, so it would be $70 billion. Is it a typo and that should be "million" instead?

Way to prove once again that the republic party has become a vengeful spite filled party of nothing.

So Republicans now see governmental power as that which should be freely wielded against any American business that doesn't follow their political world view. Overtly unAmerican of them but Republicans have stepped across that line already haven't they, they no longer feel it neccessary to be Americans anymore. The Republican Politburo is the only god that counts for them.

Let's wake up tomorrow and read "Putin pulls all government contracts for the Bank of Russia which refuses to endorse him for reelection". You can replace Putin with Stalin/Brezchnev/Tito/Kim Jong Un/Mao/Castro/Hugo Chavez...

It's a bank. The Federal Reserve is always looking up their ass. Why do you think it is against the law for banks to be closed the Friday after Thanksgiving. Don't you think the bank would rather have a four day holiday like everyone else? But NooooOOOO. The Federal Reserve tells them what to do. Congress is always trying to tell them how to run their business. It's not like they are a bakery that has to bake cakes whether they want to or not.

Good eye. That's some seriously bad writing, and it comes right from the body of the letter itself (if the document is real). Good to know that we have Congresscritters who not only want to dictate how a company can run its business, but who don't even know how money works.

>> GSA said that Citibank, N.A., and U.S. Bank would handle the implementation of SmartPay 3, the newest iteration of the federal charge card program. The contracts will facilitate a potential $700 billion in charge card expenditures and related payment transactions if the government exercises all of its extension options.

The GSAā€™s SmartPay program provides federal employees with chip-enabled charge cards, online accounts and other services that allow them to expense purchases, travel and fleet costs to their agencies. SmartPay 3 will replace the GSAā€™s current charge card program, SmartPay 2, when it expires on Nov. 29, 2018. << --- Govexec

"700 billion" is the potential amount of card charges that would be handled by the two banks. These idiots seem to think the gummint is PAYING Citibank $700,000,000,000. And these klowns are in Congress. And we're paying them to do this.

--- which in NO way makes it "a contract of more than $700 billion" which is what this bogus letter claims right there in its first sentence. It's an outright lie.

Jesus H. Christ!!!

Why the hell is everything these days seen through political lens??? That's just ridiculous....Everything's becoming "tit for tat" and it's all based on politics rather than on anyone's actual delivery (or ability to deliver) of goods and services in accordance with a contract. That's just incredibly irrational!

"Private" in the sense of "not part of the government".

The whole basic idea of Liberalism is that the government can't stick its nose into how a private company chooses its clients. The Fascisti are just gonna have to grow a pair and accept that.

Oh, you mean like whether they bake a cake for gay people?

Sure. Although I'm not sure CitiBank bakes a whole lot of cakes.... that requires flour, not dough.
