Mr. Hitchens was one of the great thinkers of the past 50 years, and I will miss his powerful writing, whether I agreed or disagreed with his view.

Please just go to your favorite media outlet to read an obituary. The Vanity Fair one is very good.

I didnt much care for his writing but I do feel for his family at such a time.

Thanks so much for posting this. It's the first I've heard about it, and like you, I will miss reading his thoughts.

Career gadfly....Was equally adept at pissing off the left, right, squishy middle, and anyone else.

Like him or not, he forced anyone who bothers to think, to think.

You never really knew what you were going to get with him, from issue to issue.

His talents were totally wasted at a rag like Vanity Fair.

Christopher Hitchens was a wit, a charmer, and a troublemaker, and to those who knew him well, he was a gift from, dare I say it, God. He died today at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, after a punishing battle with esophageal cancer, the same disease that killed his father.

I didn't always agree with him. But I loved to read his stuff.

I will miss him.
