Anyone read the Christian mystics? I like them.

"Blessed is the man who knows his weakness. This knowledge becomes for him the foundation and the beginning [of his coming] unto all good and beautiful things."

- Homily 8 (as translated by A.J. Wensinck)

St Isaac, the Syrian

I'm talking about Thomas Keating, Brother David Steindl-Rast, Thomas Merton.

Really, Sky?

REALLY???

Yes, really. Yesterday I posted a poem about Jesus by one of my favorite Christian writers, Murdo Macdonald Bayne. I thought Christians would like it. Do you know what the response was? A Christian got mad at me for 'preaching' to her.

The mystic Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk, writes about how he felt when his father died. I can relate. This is how I felt too and what led me to Buddhism

“I sat there in the dark, unhappy room, unable to move, with all the innumerable
elements of my isolation crowding in upon me from every side: without a home,
without a family, without a country, without a father, apparently without any friends,
without any interior peace or confidence or light or understanding of my own –
without God, too, without God, without heaven, without grace, without anything."
