Please read the whole article. It is very detailed.

Additionally, publishing certain kinds of indicators dramatically shortens their lifespan. When Unit 61398 changes their techniques after reading this report, they will undoubtedly force us to work harder to continue tracking them with such accuracy. It is our sincere hope, however, that this report can temporarily increase the costs of Unit 61398’s operations and impede their progress in a meaningful way. We are acutely aware of the risk this report poses for us. We expect reprisals from China as well as an onslaught of criticism."

TruthMatters,

China has designated overt military units to engage in Cyber espionage against global corporations and government institutes, the main target of course is the US. One of the hacking techniques used by them comprises installation of backdoor on the target (victim) computer. The implications are serious ranging from compromised military secrets to classified government documents.

Just to give you an example, some top notch classified secret related to aerospace technology was stolen from Lockheed Martin. China was suspected to be behind the attack. The suspicion was confirmed when China released a jet which was similar to the design conceived by Lockheed Martin.

Recently, the US Government has asked government agencies and corporations that manufacture controlled products to refrain from purchasing Chinese networking equipment because they were found to have backdoor installed on them already. Hopefully this coupled with the awareness brought forth by Mandiant will make it more difficult for Chinese Government to do hacking.

So far what I have described was on a serious level because national security was at the risk. As far as common peace activists (e.g. Free Tibet Movement) are concerned. There is no respite for them. Because, overwhelming majority of Internet Service Providers in the US use networking equipment made in China. As you guessed it, these equipment already have backdoor installed on them.

Bottom line is if you buy Chinese electronic equipment which can be hooked to the internet, you are opening up yourself to easy surveillance.

Well we're the United fucking States of America. I'm sure we have countermeasures in place and have hacked PLENTY of Chinese interests.

If not then we're really really really really really really really... (repeating for infinity) stupid. And I tend to lean towards that we're not; as we're the lone world superpower.

Detonate a nuclear weapon in the upper atmosphere above China and turn their computers off for good.

Problem solved.
