Historically we are presented with a grim picture of the human condition. Over the millennia humans have had a propensity to gravitate towards child sacrifice.

The Aztecs sacrificed to the gods of Tlaloc, Ehecatl, Quetzalcoati, and Huizilupochtli.

The Incas sacrificed their young in a ritual called capachocha.

The Ammonites of the Bible sacrificed their children to the god of Moloch. The Israelites later followed suit by adopting the practice before God expunged them from the Holy Land.

Phoenicia and Carthage sacrificed their young to the god Cronus.

The Quran documents pagan Arabian child sacrifice in the region Mohammad conquered.

In Prehistoric Briton they have unearthed evidence of child sacrifice.

And lastly, in Uganda there is now a revival of child sacrifice, even though the government is attempting to down play the issue.

This is by no means a comprehensive list. In fact, the great majority of history is lost to us forever. I think there are a great many more examples out there.

But our morality of today is so much superior, right? Since Roe vs. Wade, there have been about 50 million abortions. Can this be compared to the child sacrifice of old? I think it can, for you see, children were sacrificed to the gods in order to obtain things. They wanted a victory at war or they wanted a lavish harvest or they wanted to end a drought ect. Today, the average abortion is done due to financial concerns. Again, it comes down to materialism and our selfish nature. In reality, we are no different than these cultures of old, in fact, we are far worse.
