Charlie Gard and His Parents Given U.S. Citizenship to Fly Him to America for Treatment

Pro-life Congressmen gave Charlie Gard new hope this week when they granted the British infant and his parents permanent residence in the United States.

Well imagine that a REPUBLICAN steps up with full compassion to help this baby. Where the Governments normally claim ownership of your child the US included................Hmmm

Crazy how they just give citizenship away like that.
Then it takes other people 10 years and thousands of dollars.
I am glad we are helping this family but that is opening pandoras box. Im positive they have other ways of doing this.

I kind of thought that too. It will be accepted though because of the babies health we know how that goes.

My understanding is it still has to be approved by the House and Senate

“We just passed amendment that grants permanent resident status to #CharlieGard and family so Charlie can get the medical treatment he needs,” Fortenberry wrote.

Pro-life Congressman Kevin Yoder, a Republican from Kansas, added:

And the loser is voting appeal on the ACA, hope he loses his seat come 2018.

Legal process took too long, wasted precious time...

Parents withdraw legal action over their sick baby
Jul 24,`17 -- The parents of critically ill baby Charlie Gard dropped their legal bid Monday to send him to the United States for experimental treatment after new medical tests showed it could no longer help.
Lawyer Grant Armstrong said Chris Gard and Connie Yates were withdrawing their appeal at a London High Court hearing. As the couple wept, Armstrong said recent medical tests on Charlie showed the baby has irreversible muscular damage. "It's too late for Charlie," Armstrong said. "The damage has been done" Armstrong said the news had left Charlie's parents extremely distressed and they now "wish to spend the maximum amount of time they have left with Charlie."

The parents of critically ill baby Charlie Gard, Connie Yates and Chris Gard, arrive at the High Court in London, Monday, July 24, 2017. The parents of the 11-month old, who has a rare genetic condition and brain damage, are returning to court for the latest stage in their effort to seek permission to take the child to the United States for medical treatment.

The 11-month-old has a rare genetic condition, and his parents wanted him to receive an experimental treatment. Doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital had argued that the treatment wouldn't help and could cause the child pain. They wanted to switch off his life support and allow him to die peacefully. The case won international attention after Charlie's parents received support from Pope Francis, U.S. President Donald Trump and some members of the U.S. Congress.

Judge Nicholas Francis had scheduled a two-day hearing to consider fresh evidence after Dr. Michio Hirano, an American neurology expert from Columbia Medical Center in New York, came to London to examine the child. But Armstrong said nothing further could be done. "Due to the delay in treatment that window of opportunity has been lost " Armstrong said.

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 - Their lawyer told the High Court "time had run out" for the terminally-ill baby.
The parents of terminally-ill baby Charlie Gard have ended their legal challenge to take him to the US for experimental treatment. A lawyer representing Chris Gard and Connie Yates told the High Court that "time had run out" for the baby. Grant Armstrong said Charlie's parents had made the decision because an American doctor said it was too late to give him nucleoside therapy. "The parents worst nightmare have been confirmed", Mr Armstrong said.

Charlie Gard has a rare genetic condition and has been on life support since October

He told the presiding judge Mr Justice Francis that US neurologist Dr Michio Hirano had said he was no longer willing to offer the baby experimental therapy after he saw the results of a new MRI scan last week. He added Mr Gard and Ms Yates would now look to establish a foundation so that Charlie's voice "continues to be heard". They had raised £1.3m in donations to take their 11-month-old abroad for treatment.

With tears streaming down their faces, the parents of terminally ill baby Charlie Gard on Monday withdrew their application seeking to take the child to the United States for an experimental medical treatment, with the couple's lawyer announcing "the window of opportunity has been lost."

That just makes me sick. How long have they been fighting this?

Long enough to go from, this might help to, it's too late.

More than likely this baby was going to die no matter what was done. The loss to the research is incalculable.

The left will be along momentarily to yammer on about how they are so pro science and conservatives want to impose God's will on an unwilling public.

Any minute now.
