CBO: Republican House IRS bill will increase the deficit by $114 billion

You just lied. As usual.
Says the fucker who always lies, as usual.

And in general, the CBO has been wrong in the same direction – it overstates economic growth, underestimates government outlays, and underestimates the effects of economic incentives. The net result is that the CBO projects lower debt and lower deficits than actually end up occurring.

The CBO's Budget Projections Are Worse Than Useless

Meet the party of the deficit:

87,000 irs agents. Indeed say average irs agent salary is $116,000. So that's 101 billion not being paid out over 10 years, and that's JUST salary, not including other expenses, add in insurance and other costs, you could probably add in q couple more billion on top of that

Also, where did they get the 114 billion in lost revenue number from? Are they saying they know there are people not paying their taxes? How do they know know that? Just a guess? Or they already know people are cheating in their taxes? If they already know who's not paying their taxes, then why the need for 87000 irs agents, should be pretty easy to do an audit if they already know what they are looking for.

So, at the end of it, they are going to spend 101 billion plus to recover, potentially, 114 billion, for a net gain, realistically, of less than 14 billion over 10 years....

/——-/ Don’t forget to add in, these agents will need support staff, cell phones, office space, computers, and expense accounts.

True, with all of the extra expense that will come with the hiring 87000 agents, they may very well spend more hiring them than they will recover from tax revenue.

Again, a net gain of less than 14 billion over 10 years. 1.4 billion per year. It would be reasonable to expect that increasing an agencies staff by 87000 agents, there would more than 1.4 billion in other expenses.

Irrelevant.
Disagree.

It’s relevant because it’s yet another example of the fact that Republicans are incapable of sound, responsible governance.

That Republicans’ reckless, irresponsible pursuit of conservative fiscal dogma only harms the nation; or in this case, Republicans willing to increase the deficit motivated by a blind partisan effort to attack the IRS.

That Republicans aren’t capable of implementing their idiocy doesn’t change these facts.

‘87,000 IRS agents’ is the zombie falsehood setting the House agenda

We call these “zombie claims” because they keep rising from the dead no matter how often they have been fact-checked.

[snip]

In 2010, more than 21 percent of tax returns reporting more than $10 million in income were audited — and that dropped to 3.9 percent by 2019, the GAO said.
[snip]
On Page 16 of the Treasury report, a chart shows that almost $80 billion in new resources over 10 years would allow for the hiring of 86,852 full-time employees in the next decade.

When Congress passed a bill last year with something close to that amount of money, Republicans began to claim that all these new employees were “agents.”

The Biden administration has not released its strategic plan about how it would use the money, but a little over half is targeted for enforcement. In other words, many would not be “agents” — but employees hired to improve information technology and customer service.

[snip]

In congressional testimony in 2021, IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig said the agency will need to “replace more than 50,000 workers lost through attrition over the next six years.”

[snip]

All of these facts show how ridiculous this claim is. The hiring is over a decade, much of it replaces pending retirees, and many of the new employees are not agents. The targets of increased scrutiny are the wealthy, not the middle class. Fact check after fact check has demonstrated this.
So they aren't hiring agents, but...............

The targets of increased scrutiny are the wealthy,

I also love these weasel words while claiming what they won't be spending it on....

The Biden administration has not released its strategic plan about how it would use the money,

The middle class is audited far more often than the wealthy.

The bill was intended to fix that.

But the Republicans have killed it because that's what the wealthy have paid them to do.
The IRS says you are a liar.

Higher-income taxpayers face greater chance of audit

Despite common misperceptions about IRS examination rates, the reality is that the likelihood of an audit significantly increases as income grows.

It does, however, make them irrelevant~

Plenty of idiocy to go around, IMO.

There’s a key phrase you dopes have yet to realize is relevant to your narrative.

Over a decade.

The hiring goal is over a decade. Not surprising as the most experienced are aging out and there’s at least a four year learning curve to create a new management core.

Meaning they will still be lacking expertise when the real crunch occurs.

This is only the start and will be needed govt wide. Just gotta protect the money first

Why do you need ARMED IRS agents when we have the technology today that can take care of all taxable income?

There’s always been armed IRS agents.
Do you lie much?

The IRS has long had a Criminal Investigation division with a small number of armed special agents. Taxpayers facing routine audits, most of which are conducted by mail, do not encounter those agents. See the sources for this fact-check

Hmm...I guess I could see that...however, the Google machine says there are currently about 93000 irs agents, are they expecting that nearly 100% of their work force is going to retire in the next 10 years?

I found another article that says there are only like 4000 irs agents...average age of 49 years old..I don't know which to believe. Either they are replacing almost all of their agents over the next 10 years, or they are increasing their staff by 2000%...
