Capitalism trashes usable goods openly and daily, DISCUSS

Everyone has seen links to closing grocery stores trashing food in the face of people who need food. We have all seen links to Corporations that spend time to cut clothing before putting it in the trash. Some of us have even seen the unsold NEW CAR GRAVEYARDS.

We have an abundance of goods of all kinds for everyone.

I question why we trash excess.

It's well known they can only keep costs and profits high if the supply is low.

Get a grip on reality, the government wastes hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money, more than all so call corporate waste combined times 1,000. When will you libs stop drinking the koolaid and focus on the real problem, government.
^New people in politics don't understand Corporations (Industry) owns government.

I have made dozens of threads hoping they would catch up but it's not going to happen. If you are too bias to read black and white provable print, you will NEVER learn and you have already strapped yourself down as a party person.

^^^ dumb people never look at the Federal budget they just parrot liberal talking points like some mindless drone.

^THE IRONY. Liberal means more of and Liberals in Government today want more of War. But the so called Conservative party keeps selling that we need more war.

Is your problem Term related? The Left proposed many budgets. The Right intentionally turned them down in an effort to paint them as a party that can't pass a budget even though The Left is the only wing to pass a budget in recent days.

Reagan couldn't pass one, Bush couldn't pass one, Clinton passed one, Bush couldn't pass one, then the Right voted down many proposals under Obama because if the Left passed another one it would just look bad on the Right. We have all seen the power veto lately. Statistics have it out of this world on Obama (The guy they say made everything bad but was really never allowed to do anything due to veto's. A Right Wing attempt to paint all of Bush's problems on Obama. Just remember the Obamaphone which was created under Bush)

You seem to live in a different universe than the rest of us. None of what you describe happened in this one.

What does that mean, "corporations own government?" Do they have a title? What is the evidence of this "ownership?" I certainly haven't noticed it? Apparently morons like you think that whenever government doesn't do what you want that's because corporations are controlling it. That's because you just can't fathom the idea that not everyone wants to live in your stupid socialist utopia.

Yes, we do. However, "capitalism" is why we have the abundance. The problem is people. There is enough food to feed everyone. However, tin pot dictators and their minions, Mugabe as an example, and the corrupt governments they run (totalitarian in every case) squander enough food to feed the continent of Africa. Here in the states the supermarkets operate on a 2% to 2.5% markup, hardly a "killing".

I hate to break it to ya, but it ain't capitalism that's the culprit, it's asshole corrupt politicians and their minions the world over.

westwall........

You do know you are posting there is an abundance and then blaming democrats for trashing excess?

As always, not sure you are knowledgeable about the subject.

Communism is the theory that there is an abundance of everything. You seem to think the Democrats are the reason America trashes things, why again?

"I hate to break it to ya, but it ain't capitalism that's the culprit, it's asshole corrupt politicians and their minions the world over" What you STILL haven't learned yet is who controls those politicians. I know, it's a process................but it's taking you WAY too long....:ahole-1:
I don't know where you Live at , but I use to volunteer at a local Christian homeless shelter, a couple times a week I would do pickups at the local supermarket, ingles and Bi ~lo they would give us a staion wagon full, Piza hut would give us around 40 pizzas a Week, pantera bread would give us a shit load of bagels and stuff, long John silvers the same the local bread company a uhaul full of bread a week, the local Pepsi distributor 100s of cases of Pepsi products and on and on

The last I read Americans themselves are the biggest food wasters, like 30~40%?
Of food people buy at the local supermarket ends up in the trash

With regard to manufacturing goods, rejects can not leave the plant, due to lawsuits if someone gets hurt

Foxwoods Casino used to send the leftovers from restaurants and the big buffet to a local shelter. Then, someone sued them because they got sick. (There was no evidence whatsoever he had even EATEN anything from there, let alone that it made him sick.)

It all went into the trash after that.

That wouldn't be the first time that lawyers ruined a good thing. I happen to know that Safeway and other grocery chains send all their spoiled or substandard produce to local hog farmers.

Most corporations try to avoid wasting anything. The only reason we have Kingsford charcoal briquettes is so the Ford Motpr company could do something with its wood waste back in the days when motor coaches still had a considerable amount of wood in their construction. Coal fired power plants have even found a use for the products like sulfur that come out as a by-product of their scrubbers.

100% stupid and liberal. If GM keeps supply below demand then Ford can make a fortune meeting that demand.

Welcome to your first lesson in Economics and the beauty of Republican capitalism!!

In case it hasnt been mentioned in 3 pages, I believe the West trashes or wastes less food than 2nd or 3rd world countries. We have a super efficient supply chain and waste is waste. This is a profit driven system and waste costs money. Do you thing Wal*Mart just lets this go on without action? No way. Nor Tyson or anyone else in the supply chain. Hell, we use illegal labor to drive costs down for you and me.

Your entire way of thinking is flawed. Corporations are not inherently evil, they are inherently profit driven. That may create so many upsetting consequences that you get confused but the same system that creates real problems has driven down the cost of food enough to have fat poor people. When I was young the poor kids were rail thin. We feed more people with less resources and that's totally driven by the corporate system. Love it or hate it.

I think it's a fundamental principle of nature that libturds don't understand the most basic facts of economics.

Let's see... if stupid capitalists didn't exploit the world all that trashed food could have been distributed to hungry fools who voted for socialism.

The problem isn't only exploitation but profitability in relation to price mechanisms, together with planned obsolescence for other products and various means to ensure the same goal.

That's a lot of babble signifying nothing. Either capitalism is more efficient than socialism, or it's not. All the empirical evidence shows that it is.

Case closed.

Capitalism does this because markets operate using price mechanisms, which in turn rely on what is profitable rather than what is needed.

Products are only profitable if they are needed. Capitalism is the most efficient system of production ever devised. It's certainly far more efficient than socialism where waste is rampant.

I'm getting pretty tired of reading all the ignorant bullshit you post to the forum. I also notice that you never respond to anything I post. I suppose that means you're a coward who has me on ignore. From now on I'll be letting your idiocies have it with both barrels.

I read your first sentence, "Products are only profitable if they are needed" and laughed at your lack of intelligence on the point, AND THE REASON.

Are you stating that no one would purchase brand new cars for a smaller price? Are you stating no one would purchase food at a smaller price? Are you stating trashing perfectly GOOD goods is acceptable? You seem to be lost and over your head.

^You stated nothing about the OP at all....You did read the trashing of perfectly usable goods part correct? I'm curious how you had nothing in context and followed with "Stupid Liberal" lol. Typical actually.

Perhaps you can debate me on the topic of SUPPLY AND DEMAND. :ahole-1:

What does "My way of thinking" have to do with Corporations trashing usable goods. It's FACT. It has nothing to do with a thought process. There are mountains of information on it.

Who trashes perfectly GOOD goods? The only instances I've ever heard of doing that were on the orders of the FDR administration. Those numskulls believed the same theories that you've fallen for.

People wouldn't buy things if they didn't want them. What you're trying to tell us is the corporations make a profit on stuff that no one wants.

Idiotic.

It's not a fact. It's just another liberal myth. Can you provide any actual instances of corporations trashing perfectly usable goods?

In other words, you can't explain it.

Perhaps you could read the OP. Perhaps you could research it. Perhaps you could do work. We all know that won't happen.
