This is a 'capitalism-pulpit' exchange between a hypothetical priest/exorcist and a hypothetical demon (or 'Devil's Advocate') simply named 'Azazel.'

This exchange was inspired by the film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Signing off (best wishes to everyone on USMB for a great holiday season!),

EXORCIST: You blaspheme the sanctity of social etiquette.
AZAZEL: I simply point out the clear ugliness of society.

EXORCIST: Our world is governed by commerce and religion.
AZAZEL: "And scarcely the 'twain shall meet"...yes?

EXORCIST: Capitalism is a gamble, but it is a team-effort, demon!
AZAZEL: No member of a 'capitalism-team' ignores profit...

EXORCIST: We learn from our mistakes (e.g., Enron).
AZAZEL: Did we learn from the Great Depression, priest?

EXORCIST: There is redemption in shared empathy (e.g., Bonnie and Clyde).
AZAZEL: It's funny you bring up glorified bank robbers...capitalism is rather 'fun.'

EXORCIST: Youngsters appreciate empathy-themed storytelling (e.g., Citizen Kane).
AZAZEL: No one wants to be tagged as the 'teacher's pet,' priest...

EXORCIST: Poverty teaches us humility.
AZAZEL: True, but luxury reveals the reality of celebrity.

EXORCIST: Even priests have a right to celebrate great artists.
AZAZEL: Yes, but we like to 'poke fun' at cops revelling in doughnut-eating!

EXORCIST: America/capitalism/democracy will be redeemed by historians.
AZAZEL: We'll see...
