Does capitalism encourage teamwork?

Here's a capitalism 'camp reveille' inspired by Jerry Maguire and The Outsiders.

Cheers (Yay to NFL starting up again!),

As the members of a group of American youngsters known as the Clan assembled at the YMCA to discuss mental preparations for the upcoming NFL season, the camp-counsellor ('Interviewer') asked them what they thought about cheering on professional sports/football teams on TV to create youthful optimism/patriotism and whether or nor patriotism could be 'linked' to capitalism-optimism/idealism in America.

INTERVIEWER: Do you think the NFL is upright?
DARREL: I've been thinkin' about the Raiders moving to Vegas...
INTERVIEWER: Is that a 'sharp' move...in your opinion, Darrel?
DARREL: I like the 'idea' of an NFL team uplifting the urban spirit of Vegas!
INTERVIEWER: However, you sound 'suspicious' of a sports-team linked to casino-heaven.
DARREL: Well, we Americans love sports-gambling, so there are 'deadly' undertones, no?
INTERVIEWER: Sure, but do you think there's some 'potential' for community spirit?
DARREL: Why not? Americans also love Toys 'R Us and other capitalism 'jewelry.'
INTERVIEWER: Some thought the Raiders moving to Vegas would be an 'omen.'
DARREL: Well, not everyone's a fan of Jerry Maguire.

INTERVIEWER: What do you think of Super Bowl LII?
TWO-BIT: I'm psyched the upstart Philly Eagles downed the dominant Patriots (Brady).
INTERVIEWER: Are you a fan of the city of Philadelphia?
TWO-BIT: It's the 'City of Brotherly Love'; they have great cheesesteaks and cream-cheese.
INTERVIEWER: Are you a fan of sports-merchandising.
TWO-BIT: I'm a fan of Jerry Maguire...
INTERVIEWER: What do you think about the Raiders moving to Vegas?
TWO-BIT: It can be nice...if the fans and athletes do the right things.
INTERVIEWER: Media can cloud the morality, no?
TWO-BIT: There's always room for improvement (in capitalism)!

dally1.jpg

INTERVIEWER: What is the greatest virtue of American media/capitalism?
DALLY: Super Bowl ads...
INTERVIEWER: Did you watch the Bud Bowl growing up or the new Puppy Bowl?
DALLY: I enjoy those 'sideshows' since they encourage participation in culture.
INTERVIEWER: What did you think about the Eagles win in Super Bowl LII?
DALLY: People were becoming bored with Tom Brady (the Goliath); that's eerie.
INTERVIEWER: How would you 'quantify' sports-media culture in America?
DALLY: It's all Jerry Maguire and Duke-UNC televised daydreams...
INTERVIEWER: Is capitalism itself merely a 'daydream,' Dally?
DALLY: I think Jerry Maguire reminds us that consumerism is...child-like!

dally4.jpg

INTERVIEWER: Are you a fan of Jerry Maguire?
SODA-POP: No, not really...
INTERVIEWER: Are you a fan of Hollywood in general?
SODA-POP: I like The Last Boy Scout (Bruce Willis)!
INTERVIEWER: What's your favorite NFL team?
SODA-POP: I like the old-school Oakland Raiders...
INTERVIEWER: Is there 'magic' in media/sports in America?
SODA-POP: I like victory-parades on TV (e.g., Penguins/Eagles from 2018)!
INTERVIEWER: Penguins and Eagles both hail from Pennsylvania.
SODA-POP: That's great...that's American pride.

dally7.jpg

INTERVIEWER: Are you excited for this upcoming NFL season?
PONY BOY: I guess so...TV is fun.
INTERVIEWER: Are you a fan of Disney or Toys 'R Us or Foot Locker?
PONY BOY: I cheer on 'consumerism' but I prefer just relaxing to TV!
INTERVIEWER: Is capitalism exciting to you?
PONY BOY: I dunno...I feel 'suspicious' of the Raiders moving to Vegas.
INTERVIEWER: What cheers you up about that?
PONY BOY: I can unwind to the 'notion' that televised sports is youthful.
INTERVIEWER: So you 'ignore' the 'flaws' of capitalism/media?
PONY BOY: Ignorance is bliss...as long as there's plenty of snacks.

dally5.jpg

INTERVIEWER: Are you a fan of Jerry Maguire?
RANDLE: So many people are...
INTERVIEWER: What entices you about capitalism and sports (in America)?
RANDLE: I like the idea of competition 'wed' to national pride...
INTERVIEWER: What do you think about the Raiders moving to Vegas?
RANDLE: It can be a 'nifty' move if marketing does not interfere with the athletes.
INTERVIEWER: Does capitalism/consumerism create 'distractions,' Randle?
RANDLE: I guess if there's too much junk-food, people start daydreaming about escape!
INTERVIEWER: How is sports-culture in America akin to 'escapism,' Randle?
RANDLE: I suppose sports-gambling engages our 'indulgences' about 'speculation.'

dally6.jpg

INTERVIEWER: Is capitalism 'complex,' Leif?
LEIF: It's complicated at least...many hate America!
INTERVIEWER: Yes, the Middle East is 'suspicious' of capitalism...
LEIF: I wonder what Iran thinks of the Raiders moving to Vegas.
INTERVIEWER: What do you think Iran thinks?
LEIF: I'd imagine they'd say, "Here're Americans indulging in candy."
INTERVIEWER: Do you like sports-gambling?
LEIF: I don't mind anything that 'cheers' the foundations of capitalism.
INTERVIEWER: How do you spiritualize risk?
LEIF: Sports (and gambling) is risk; I seek spirituality in friendship/teamwork.

dally8.jpg

INTERVIEWER: Is American TV interesting to you?
CADE: I like when they televise culturally-symbolic programs.
INTERVIEWER: Did you watch Super Bowl LII on TV?
CADE: I enjoyed watching the underdog Eagles triumph!
INTERVIEWER: Is consumerism human-friendly?
CADE: I suppose I like Toys 'R Us, but Vegas worries me...
INTERVIEWER: How do you feel about the Raiders moving to Vegas?
CADE: I fear that'd encourage too much sports-gambling (in the culture)!
INTERVIEWER: How is capitalism/media (in America) encouraging (to you)?
CADE: I enjoy capitalism-patriotic films such as Casino and Wall Street.

After all the members of 'the Clan' were interviewed by the YMCA summer camp-counsellor, the members (Pony-Boy, Darrel, Randle, etc.) decided to write personalized essays about the value of merchandising in cheering on capitalism and the role of media/entertainment (e.g., movies, ads) in the circulation of patriotism in a consumerism-centric society such as America. The camp-counsellor was pleased that the Clan members were seriously evaluating why/how sports-culture could be linked metaphysically and analytically to the 'heart' of capitalism. This is why the YMCA was established...
