Can Democrats let go of identity politics?

If they can, if they can give up their preoccupation with "special rights for special people", and get back to equal rights for all, their dreams of a blue wave might come true.

What special rights are you referring too?

Anything and everything that gives people a different deal under the law based on which interest group they belong to. It's present in our tax code, civil rights legislation (protected classes and PA laws), our education bureaucracy, et. al.
.

So, like a tariff that gives a good deal for one group and bad for others?

Absolutely, yes. Democrats have a real opportunity to turn away from that kind of governance. I think it would be a winning move for them.

Democrats have lost sight of what equal rights even means. It used to mean equal rights under the law - meaning that we're all treated equally by government. But, now they've become fixated on ensuring that we're all treating each other equally. Which requires decidedly un-equal treatment by government.

When did this mythological government treat everyone equally? 1950's or 1980's or...

We're talking about the ideal. What are we aiming for?

Again, what laws are you referring too?

See previous post.

The short answer? No.

I think the better question is, can the republicans? If they dropped Trumpism and pitched a big tent, they could dominate politics in this country for decades. Instead, they are hitching their wagon to a prize racehorse whose prime has long fled by.
It is all they know. Look at the absurdity of these toad brains. That post makes sense to them.

I did, post doesn't point to or mention any law.

Republicans are just average mainstream middle class Americans who the Democrats constantly call Nazis

Not even close, republics are a bunch of white people feeling victimized by a lost of privilege.

White privilege is another crazy left wing bigot meaningless issue.
Dont underestimate the power of those words and cliches thought up in left wing globalist think tanks. It works wonders on their slaves and it sure works great on their white guilt elitist sheep.

Sure there is. One example are these "crusaders" in Kansas. They're not called terrorists, but instead "militia members".

Whenever there is a white dude going on a killing spree, the response is just "thoughts and prayers".

And on the subject of identity politics, it was created by white supremacists. aka southern strategy.

Wow, not much identity labeling in that post.

Muster the militia until crime drops to socially acceptable levels.

Sure, but why call some white jughead out of the woods with his gun when crime is at historic lows?

No, they can't. Over the past 8 years they've become such an exercise in hatred against white males it consumes them. It's their party's raison d'etre.

Unfortunately I think they are too predisposed to the idea at this point, but yes, it would lead to more a middle ground.

It's all they got to go on. If they let go of Identity Politics, they might as well become Republicans!

Expect for the undeniable truth that the Rebubs do it every bit as much as the Dems

We're not the side that keeps on insisting that race ought to be considered an important distinction between oen human being and another. Yours is the side that keeps on bringing up race and trying to divide us on the basis thereof. Mine is the side that, in accordance with Martin Luther King's “Dream”, prefers to judge people on the content of their character rather than on the color of their skin.
