Hounded by taxes and regulations, employers in the once-Golden State are moving East.

Hours after the legislators met with Mr. Perry, another business, Fujitsu Frontech, announced that it is abandoning California. "It's the 70th business to leave this year," says California business relocation expert Joe Vranich. "That's an average of 4.7 per week, up from 3.9 a week last year." The Lone Star State was the top destination, with 14 of the 70 moving there.

Texas has added 165,000 jobs during the last three years while California has lost 1.2 million. California's jobless rate is 12% compared to 8% in Texas.

"I don't see this as a partisan issue," Mr. Newsom told reporters before the group met with Texas Republican Gov. Rick Perry. The former San Francisco mayor has many philosophical disagreements with Mr. Perry, but he admitted he was "sick and tired" of hearing about the governor's success luring businesses to Texas.

Texas wants those people from California because most Texans are uneducated and unwilling to learn. Otherwise, those jobs would go to Texans. Oops.

You do realize that it's the Californian's out of jobs and business income which Texans are getting, right?

Why should Californians stay in a Welfare Stae that demands even MORE from them?

    Damned shame.

Only problem is one would have to live in texas. Too hot, ugly landscape. People were generally nice when I lived there. But the state itself is downright ugly. Nice place for drunks with shotguns though.

We don't want the people, we just want the jobs. Got to admit it's hot as hell around here from May - October, pretty dry too unless you live in east Texas. Mild winters though, you can golf just about every week of the year here in SA. No state income tax, and property values are low right now. Lotta horny women too.

Who will they be hiring in Texas? Obviously, people from California. Who wants to hire a bunch of dumb Texans? Have you read the Republican Party State Platform? If that is any indication of the people in Texas, business owners welcome, with open arms, people from California, the land of research, technology and the educated.
