Do you know whether or not the SEIU is setting up these machines? Because they were reported to have set up the voting machines that were not operating correctly in Harry Reid's elections. Looks as if this is going to be a problem again.

So many people had their vote changed before this was discovered? There is no valid reason why we even need to be using these machines. These are the product of a knee jerk reaction after the 2000 election all because a large population of stupid people moved to Florida.

I believe the disapproval rating is 62% not 52% and that is most likely a conservative number.

Allowing private partisan corporations to manufacture voting machines and not having independent means to audit the code should never have been allowed in the first place.

You can thank the Republicans for believing that corporations always do things "better" than the government.

This is a classic example as to why it is clearly a mistake to believe that dogma.

I suppose you want the same people that designed the Obamacare web site to do it. Or perhaps the unionized government employees who would never have an agenda. LOL
BTW, who did the software the enables you to use your computer?

You want to have voting machines that can be rigged?

According to the article, they already are in Illinois.

Anything that runs computer code can, and no doubt has, already been compromised. Here in Nevada there was a requirement that a paper ballot be produced at the same time that the voter could then check for accuracy.

Evidently they don't use the machines we have up north down in Vegas. Very strange....or not.

Yep, things are working according to plan in Obama's home county in Illinois.

A state politician (a Republican) went to vote, and when he voted for himself in his own race, the machine switched the vote to a Democrat in the same race. The politician tried it again, and the same thing happened. Then it happened a bunch more times when he voted for other Republican candidates in other races on the same ballot.

Voting officials checked the machine, and verified that it was indeed switching votes to Democrats.

The proffered excuse? It was a "calibration error". And apparently that was the only machine (out of hundreds in use countywide) that they checked. There is no mention of any other machines being taken out of service or checked for this or other "errors". No indication of how many other people could have voted on this same machine and had the same thing happen to them, perhaps unnoticed.

And no indication if any other machines were checked for the same problem - apparently voting on all other machines went on without anyone even wondering if other, identical machines, off the same assembly line from the same factory, and calibrated by the same people, might also have the same so-called "error".

BTW, what "calibration" do voting machines need, anyway? You click or tap next to the name you want, and the machine submits that name. Is there any thing else they are even remotely capable of doing??? Unless somebody has carefully altered the machine to switch votes to another candidate?

It's almost like firing a rifle at a target in front of you, and a guy standing behind you drops dead of a gunshot wound, when you were the only person firing on that range. And then the range safety officer comes up, checks the gun, and says, "Yep, your sights are a little off. It was a calibration error".

Do those Democrats actually expect normal people to believe the "calibration error" excuse???

Back when paper ballots were used, you could always go back and re-examine the actual ballot. It wasn't too likely the voter's pen, which he aimed for the Republican's name, somehow curved around and landed on the Democrat's name no matter how hard the voter tried to guide it onto the Republican.

But with these electronic voting machines, it isn't just "possible"... it has been discovered ACTUALLY HAPPENING DURING A REAL ELECTION.

And what, exactly, are you going to re-examine later? The machine will simply say, "Yes, those were all Democrat votes. You can trust me."

This is a new low.

I hope.

You know the old saying: "The ones who vote, decide nothing. The ones who count the votes, decide everything."

Sounds like the Democrats in Cook County, Illinois have taken it to heart.

‘Calibration error’ changes GOP votes to Dem in Illinois county

Published October 22, 2014

CHICAGO — Early voting in Illinois got off to a rocky start Monday, as votes being cast for Republican candidates were transformed into votes for Democrats.

Republican state representative candidate Jim Moynihan went to vote Monday at the Schaumburg Public Library.

“I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” Moynihan said. “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat.”

The conservative website Illinois Review reported that “While using a touch screen voting machine in Schaumburg, Moynihan voted for several races on the ballot, only to find that whenever he voted for a Republican candidate, the machine registered the vote for a Democrat in the same race. He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party. Moynihan was eventually allowed to vote for Republican candidates, including his own race.

Cook County Board of Elections Deputy Communications Director Jim Scalzitti, told Illinois Watchdog, the machine was taken out of service and tested.

“This was a calibration error of the touch-screen on the machine,” Scalzitti said. “When Mr. Moynihan used the touch-screen, it improperly assigned his votes due to improper calibration.”
