    From George Will.

    Spot on.

Any foreigner who gets a Ph.D. in this country should have a Green Card stapled to the back of their diploma the day they receive it. Anyone with a Masters degree should be eligible in a few months, not several years.

I worked as a staff researcher in a biochem lab for 2 years after I got my B.S. - oh my lord, you should see the hoops foreign PhDs have to jump through. We had a postdoc from India, incredibly bright, collected tons of data, published quite a bit - who had the worst time getting a green card. He used to joke that if he went to Tijuana and jumped the fence things might ease up for him a bit. We should be giving these guys medals for coming here and helping maintain our superiority in science and technology.
