The U.S. ambassador in Kabul sent two classified cables to Washington in the last week expressing deep concerns about sending more U.S. troops to Afghanistan until Afghan President Hamid Karzai's government demonstrates that it is willing to tackle the corruption and mismanagement that has fueled the Taliban's rise, said senior U.S. officials.

Ambassador Karl W. Eikenberry's memos were sent in the days leading up to a critical meeting Wednesday between President Obama and his national security team to consider several options prepared by military planners for how to proceed in Afghanistan.

.

It would appear that the State Dept and Pentagon are at each other's throats over Afghanistan...much like they were in Iraq.

Great

Wow. I'm glad those top secret memos were classified, or else everyone would know what Obama should do, which is listen to his ambassador, and ignore what his general is recommending.

Democrats are trying to make sure that Islamists have a secure home in Afghanistan should they, Allah forbid, lose Iran.

hey frank, Booooooooooooooooooooosh had 8 years to deal with it , but he had to try try finish his daddies failure in Iraq and he failed at both go figure

Yeap... and Yemen, and Sudan, and Somalia, and Egypt, and Libya, and Algeria, and Saudi Arabia, and all the other nations where Islamists exist in operate. I'm sure us not leaving Afghanistan wouldn't be the worst thing in the World to the Islamists. Fighting a war against a terrorist group that exists in a host of nations in one nation seems kind of idiotic.. just saying.
