I agree with your logic except on the most important point of all. When the kid suddenly pulled away and turned his back to the officers so that they couldn't see his hands, their choice was to allow him to continue and potentially turn around with a handgun, blazing away at them OR stop the threat. IMO, her choice to use a tazer showed her awareness of how volatile that situation could be.
She obviously screwed up and he died as a result BUT, had he just complied none of that would have happened. I have no patience for people who want cops to be robots with no concern for being able to go home to their families at the end of shift.
The boy died of stupid and there is no other way around it.
