The Boston Globe is calling for national media to circle the wagons and defend itself against attacks from a presidential administration. It sees a great danger in a population that questions its credibility. The real threat to America’s corrupted and dying Fourth Estate is people that still remember history.
The Soviet Union failed because it tried to go old school on the people by suppressing information and presenting only a state version of the truth. Elite Soviet society collapsed because it was ahead of its time and lacked the technology to foster its aims-The Russian people and the East Germans knew it was bull.
US elites have concluded that a state version of the truth is still the way to go but they have supplanted suppression with ubiquitous dissemination of false information wrapped in self-serving victimology. They camouflage reality in a revolving door of propaganda leaving the people unable to recognize the actual truth if it falls on their heads.
The state then steps forward presenting itself as an irreproachable arbiter of what’s real. The state becomes a fact checker for the people and as the bogus-information-overwhelmed population becomes dumber it obediently swallows the sweet tasting Kool Aid of fake news.
If the Soviets had adopted the strategy of the American Deep State and had possessed the technology to carry it through they would be running the planet today. Timing is everything and the Soviets lost out while the American Deep State trudges ahead armed with the advanced technology of state-compromised secret police organizations like the FBI and the DOJ. This all happens right before the American people while they wear the goggles of government-issued, media-supported virtual reality.
In this nightmarish state of affairs the media are not the watchdogs for the truth; they are the attack dogs for the status quo. When the press devolves into a partisan brown-shirted body guard for the state it is no longer free. It ceases to be the guardian of the front yards of the people-it is the wolf at the door in service to the government.
The collective wisdom of the free masses can prevail if the people just keep their heads and fight for their right to examine the motives of a state media that wants to trick them into abandoning their liberties. Print publications like the Boston Globe are on life support-Sometimes it’s best to just pull the plug.
