Blunt Amendment DEFEATED! DOWN IN FLAMES!

In case no one has posted this - It was attached to a Dem highway jobs bill the pubs wanted to fail. More than million jobs just went up in smoke because the damn pubs want to control every aspect of our lives AND they want to kill all jobs.

They should have to introduce it as a separate bill instead of using it to kill jobs.

The affordable health care act mandates employers provide minimum coverage for certain procedures. The Blunt Amendment short circuits those requirements,

So employees would have had to pay for procedures they weren't allowed to receive.

No. If you are not covered for a benefit, you do not pay for that benefit. That is how insurance works.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Senate has defeated a Republican effort to roll back President Barack Obama's policy on contraception insurance coverage.

The measure sponsored by Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt, a Republican, was defeated 51-48. The measure, an amendment to a pending transportation bill, would have allowed employers and insurers to opt out of portions of the president's health care law they found morally objectionable. That would have included the law's requirement that insurers cover the costs of birth control.

Republicans said it was a matter of freedom of religion; Democrats said it was an assault on women's rights and could be used to cancel virtually any part of the law.

EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN VOTED FOR THIS!
EVERY SINGLE ONE!

You think this won't come back and bite you on the hinder later on?
Think again.

EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN SENATOR just said it was cool for ANY business to deny their employees ANY MEDICAL TREATMENT their employees PAY THEIR INSURANCE PREMIUMS FOR !

Thank GOD this legislative TURD went down to defeat.
Asking corporations to make MORAL DECISIONS about their employee's health.
Only insurance company executives and their leashed whores would think this is a good idea.
Contraception isn't "medical treatment", you imbecile.

Read the amendment dumbass.
It would have covered ANY MEDICAL PROCEDURE.
Breast cancer screening. Colon cancer screening. ANYTHING.

That you come here and speak as if you know what you are talking about when it is all too apparently that you are, in fact an imbecile, shows just how good your analytical skills are and the extent to which they should be trusted by anyone.
Taking a birth control pill is now a "medical procedure" anywhere near on a par with cancer screening?

You're even stupider than I had thought...And that's saying something.

Stop fucking piggybacking bills onto other bills. Fucking crappy dishonest practice by our congress critters.

What is stupid is that you apparently don't know all the uses for birth control pills. If you did, you would not have posted such a STOOPID statement.

This is what Republicans waste their time on in the Senate? They knew it wouldn't pass, and they pushed it anyway.

And what's this about a 'moral objection' being enough to prevent contraception coverage (or any other kind of coverage, for that matter)? Couldn't an employer claim a moral objection to just about anything?

Same old liberal template. Use a victim as a human shield to enable government abuse for the vast majority of people who are not.

A tiny fraction of birth control usage is for actual medical reasons. And there is enough free contraception available to such people that forcing employers to provide birth control to their perfectly healthly employees makes your pathetic smoke screen the worst fucking excuse ever.

Who put the issue on the calendar for consideration, while no fewer than a dozen bills already passed by the HoR remain tabled?.

Who's wasting time by pushing bills that they know won't pass?

I think you and I cheer this decision for two separate reasons, you cheer it because you love government intrusion into our liberties. I cheer it because the GOP accomplished what they went out to accomplish, and that is putting the democrat senate on record before the November elections.
Keep up the good work House, start throwing more bills to the senate that will put them on record. In the end it exposes them for what they are and they will pay a price in November for it.

In bold?

It is BS like that that comes with everyone of your posts as the reason I see you as an immature, illiterate child.

If that is your take on the GOP position, then you have the listening and reading comprehension skills of a thimble.

Oh, really.
Perhaps you can point out what part of what I said that was untrue?

WOULD the Blunt Amendment have allowed employers to deny medical procedures their EMPLOYEES HAD PAID THEIR PREMIUMS FOR??

Yes or no?

It's just that simple.

Here's the argument you CONZ are making...

“This issue gets right at the heart of who we are as a people,” said Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R) of Kentucky, in an opening floor speech on Thursday. “It is not in the power of the federal government to tell anybody what to believe or to punish them for practicing those beliefs,” he added.

Golly...I guess this means I get my taxes back that went to support the Iraq war then?

Do you see how PROFOUNDLY RETARDED that position is?
ANYONE could claim a "moral exemption" from ANYTHING they don't like. And what's the standard for qualifying for a "moral objection"? A person's statement ?

This isn't a first amendment issue any more than my Aunt Sally. That CONZ try to desperately frame it as such, only goes to show how DESPERATE they are to motivate their base, which is suffering from teabagging fatigue and a dismal choice of out of touch candidates.

1) if it is not in the plan THEN IT IS NOT BEING PAID FOR
2) Should employers be forced to pay for your recreational activities? NO

We should all be able to agree that the purpose of sex in the animal kingdom is for procreation... We as evolved beings have learned thru reasoning and cognitive thought that sex feels good and that we can do this without trying to procreate in order to feel good when we want to in this way. When we do things to be happy/feel good, it is RECREATION... You do not HAVE To do such an activity. Nobody OWES it to you. If you wish to partake, then it is your responsibility. Now, is it NICE when an employer pays for birth control in their benefits package that includes medical coverage of some sort? Yep.. Does a benefits package full of things people like, want, or demand draw in more and/or better employees? Yes... But if an employer DOES NOT WISH TO participate in supplying for your recreational behavior that they do not agree with, IT IS NOT UP TO THE GOVERNMENT TO FORCE THEM TO

Idiot

Contraception isn't "medical treatment", you imbecile.

actually, it referred to any medical treatment or other medical items that conflict with the morals of the business owner.

In essence, the GOP does not believe that government should force anyone to act outside of their own moral standards.

To be frank, I cant see why any liberal would want the government be allowed to do it.

Who was paying for the insurance?
The employees.
Who was making the medical decisions?
The Employer.

At least with the government, I have a SAY in who makes the decision.

I guess CONZ are content with letting corporations make medical decisions for them. Funny they talk about government taking away their freedoms, then turn around and hand them over without a struggle to an entity they have no control over.

WRONG.... per usual

The employer purchases the plan and pays a good deal towards it.. the employer staffs the HR department to manage the arrangement and to help the employees with the benefit...

And the decision is not being taken away from the person... they can still have their recreational sex with birth control.. they simply must pay for it

I swear.. every post you make shows more and more how much of an idiot you are

It can be, fool.
Not anymore so than an oil change on your car is "mechanical work", psychotic freak.
58% of women on oral contraceptives use it for reasons other than family planning.

First of all the Senate is a democrat majority, so if course, it's no surprise that the majority voted against this.

Secondly, in the past religious institutions did provide insurance, but that insurance did not include contraception coverage. Why should a religious institution provide coverage for something they are against for religious reasons? Are you too dense to see that infringes on their freedom of religion? It's not something the insurance subscriber was paying for to begin with. And now Obama wants insurances to provide this free of charge? This still doesn't resolve the moral/religious dilemma of these religious institutions. However, it does add to the fact that the insurance companies, for one, are not going to eat the cost. IT will be passed on and probably reflected in higher insurance premiums/pharmacy copays, not to mention that now we have the government telling private companies that they must provide a certain service free of charge. Do you not see the danger in this?

This isn't about denying women healthcare. This is about religious institutions having their religious freedom violated. Nobody is saying that no one should ever provide contraception coverage, what is being said is that religious institutions should not be forced to, whether overtly or covertly (with this dumb "compromise" that's really just an underhanded way for Obama to get his way, and apparently some people are just too stupid to see it.)
