Bloomberg: Taxing The Poor Is A Good Thing

The Left hate the poor.

?Huh? And this is one of the brightest and best the Left have to offer us? Where did they get the applause for that, from some sort of recorded tape track? Lessee----- raise taxes on soda drinks so the poor will buy less, be less fat, have more money to get a Ph.D and go out and not be poor. I see. It'll only take about 75,000 soft drinks to pay for an education. Assuming 5 soft drinks a week, that'll only take about 288 years for the average person!

I have a better idea than making the poor drink warm tap-water for life.

Cut taxes to government so people get to keep what money they have. Cut bloated salaries to fat politicians drastically. Invoke term limits, accountability and strict penalties. Stop massive foreign subsidies. Then politicians and government will waste far less, be more accountable, get less fat on pork and have more motivation to go out and get a real job.

Moochers....as one who worked hard during my life I know you he very last thing the poor are is a moocher. Living poor in America is very difficult almost impossible.

Taxing people into submission is the left's way of doing things. If people are not behaving to your standards, penalize them until they do.

These are the same people that want to run our entire healthcare system. So if that's what people are for, remember comments like this guy makes, because you won't be able to get healthcare if you don't live a lifestyle they approve of.

I would like to see one of the lefties show me where any of our founders thought it was the federal governments responsibility to conduct our choices and the way we live our personal lives.

It's in the Constitution, but you can only see it wearing these glasses:

Bloomberg has a very good argument, he saying we should tax things more that cause detrimental effects on our society.

Things like high sugar drinks and coal.... (could have named many other products)

Look at the drinks, you drink high sugar and the effects for a large proportion is Obesity and Diabetes which are epidemic in the US. This is causing huge strain on the US Health System and leads to premature deaths which also cause strains on society at large.

So taxing it to change behaviour is for society gain.

Here is a simple example: Ireland had a plastic rubbish problem, mainly plastic bags where finding themselves everywhere, this affected everyone. They introduced a 20c Plastic Bag levy on all shopping bags to clean up the rubbish. What happened? People stopped using one time used plastic and started bring canvas or heavy plastic use lifetime bags.
The plastic bags didn't need to be cleaned up as with months they were gone.
The government didn't know what to do with the money but the public were very happy with the levy, turns out the money wasn't huge but it was used in other green projects.

So a simple levy cleaned up the local environment and people are far happier... It was a behaviour changer.

Nothing but repeal instead of better solutions at lower cost really is worth less under Capitalism.

Because of the right wing and their insistence on work ethic from the Age of Iron, some of us have learned how to use not Only a hammer, but Also a sickle.

They're trying to do that here. They passed the law already but cities and even the state are fighting it. I use those bags in my truck to throw garbage in. Now that I won't have those bags any longer, I guess I'll just open my window and toss my garbage on the street.

I'm curious what your idea of the conservative work ethic is.

anything in compliance with our general State laws regarding employment at the will of either party in our at-will employment States.

only illegals don't care about law. only their implied socialism on a national basis.

FLASHBACK: BLOOMBERG SAYS RAISING TAXES ON POOR PEOPLE IS A “GOOD THING.” “There’s just no question. If you raise taxes on full sugary drinks, for example, they will drink less and there’s just no question that full sugar drinks are one of the major contributors to obesity and obesity is one of the major contributors to heart disease and cancer and a variety of other things.”

We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good, to coin a phrase.
