Finally! I found some things in the news where Black community leaders and activists ARE promoting more stable, unifying, and sustainable plans to reduce the racial violence across cities.

But the statement by Black Pastors has been divided politically, only the Christian and Rightwing media are reporting it as positive! The references I saw to it in mainstream media demonize these pastors as out of touch, (similar to declaring any dissenting beliefs on gay marriage laws as "homophobic and hateful").

Community Cries out for “No More Bloodshed!” in Houston

The movement in Houston for No More Bloodshed seems to integrate the issues that BLM raises over policing WITH the acknowledgement and commitment to STOP "black on black violence" as an internal issue that must be addressed FIRST, before other problems can be resolved IN TURN. So this seems to include both angles, not pitting one against the other in the media.

Here is the msg I posted to standamerica.us:

There are 8 national historic Freed Slave churches in Freedmen's Town asking prayer support to unite leadership around the nation to save this district that is the only one remaining in the US. The City of Houston has neglected, demolished and destroyed, gravesites, churches and brick streets built by Freed Slave ministers and their congregations and descendants. Freedmen's Town was registered as a National Historic Landmark, where millions in taxmoney have been abused to destroy the history, until there is no money left to help the churches nonprofits to restore it. Will you please send a representative to meet with the church leadership to buy out the 40 block district to restore as a campus and national HQ, using federal restitution for tax money abused to demolish National Black History, including the Federal Reserve building constructed over the former graves where burials of poor workers were removed. Yes, federal authority was even abused to build a bank for the wealthy over the graves of the poor in this Freed Slave district, with national landmarks to both Civil Rights and Military History. untli we resolve these conflicts, where govt and democratic processes truly include, protect and represent all people equally instead of enabling one side to dominate and exclude the other.

There are a lot more people, ideas and groups left out of the equation, left without equal representation,
if we only do what is convenient, and frame everything in black and white as two sides in conflict,
where "only one can win," as in current media and politics for publicity sake, instead of seeking
solutions where EVERYONE can protect their interests equally.

Emily, "equal representation" is indeed the key. Right now that is done by our constitutional system of choosing representation. You will have to change that system. How? I don't have the slightest idea, because you would never get your ideas into a constitutional convention. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
