Black Guns Matter Founder: âGovernor Blackfaceâ Is Pushing 'Racist' Gun Control
Black Guns Matter Founder: âGovernor Blackfaceâ Is Pushing 'Racist' Gun Control
âThe history of gun control in America has been very â extremely â racist from the beginning,â remarked Toure. âIt was designed â in Virginia, ironically â and created to make sure [people] do not have the means to defend themselves. Thatâs what gun control is designed to do. It doesnât make us safer. It doesnât make us more responsible. It doesnât make us more informed.â
Toure continued, âYou have a state like Virginia. Theyâre just throwing a Hail Mary attempt. Theyâve got a very egotistical and confident governor that has been caught in a scandal with blackface, talking about eugenics and infanticide, and he hasnât been taken out of his seat. So because of that, he thought, âOkay, I can throw a Hail Mary.ââ
âWhat we saw in response was that do-not-comply energy, even though generally, gun owners are very respectful [and] responsible individuals,â said Toure of Mondayâs rally in Richmond, Virginia, supporting the Second Amendment. âWhat weâre seeing is people say, âDo not comply,â because that is a violation of our Second Amendment and human right to keep and bear arms. So we are not going to comply with that.â
Toure went on, âBut at the same time, what weâre not going to do is create a space where we look like weâre just these reckless irresponsible gonna-break-the-law people. Our duty is to resist tyranny. Our obligation is to defy and not comply with unjust laws. SB64 â Senate Bill 64 â and what governor blackface down there in Virginia is trying to do is very tyrannical. Itâs our job to make sure weâre showing the general public that, âHey, weâre not wildinâ out here, but at the same time, weâre [resisting] unjustifiable, very racist practices in the form of gun control.ââ
Toure contrasted the approaches of Second Amendment defenders with Black Lives Matters activists.
âThatâs why the conversation is more about non-compliance â âwe will not complyâ â education on legislation more so than this take-a-knee, submit, hands-up-donât-shoot-type vibe,â Toure explained. âAs Americans, we tend to not so the submissive thing very, very well, and we shouldnât.â
Non-white minorities are disproportionately impacted by policies eroding Second Amendment rights, Toure stated.
