Nato appears to be settled on not allowing the Ukraine to join Nato during a war. This topic is offered as an explanation on why the Ukraine can't be admitted now, or ever.

Everybody understands Nato's article 5 in which an injury to one is an injury to all.

If the Ukraine is admitted to Nato there's no doubt that Russia will continue the attack against the Ukraine and in doing that, Russia will be violating the demands of Article 5. Thereby forcing Nato to attack Russia, which will result in the dreaded world war that would inevitably go nuclear.

From that, it's not hard to understand that Russia will continue the attack on the Ukraine and the Ukraine can never be admitted to Nato. Admitting the Ukraine into Nato would be a declaration of war against Russia and that can't happen for obvious reasons.

In actual fact, Nato's article 5 has handcuffed Nato forever.

Does anyone understand how article 5 handcuffs Russia too, but probably not forever?

LOL, so the conspiracy theories are true, Ukraine is the new Israel. A new globalist, Jewish super state to launder money for crooked leftwing politicians in Europe, and of course America.

Perhaps that's Biden's plan, but the point is that the Ukraine can't become a Nato member while Russia is still actively on the attack.

I'm hoping you understand that?

bad news for your buddies 🐐🇷🇺
You've missed the point completely!

It's suggested that the bad news is that the Ukraine can never be a Nato member. This thread is put up to help everybody understand the reason why.

Do you have a better or a different explanation?

Here's an opportunity to be taken seriously for a change.

They can still decide to support Ukraine; they just won't be bound to. Which is probably the correct middle ground. It also possibly gives Putin a face-saving way out, but there are other players/factors to consider. Zelensky can't just drop Crimea. If he does, the nationalists in Ukraine will want his ass. It's the ultra-nationalists on both sides that make a compromise hard.

Biden is not capable of mulling anything.

You could say that the Ukraine could become a Nato member without privileges, and specifically article 5.
But then there's no doubt that Nato membership is blowing smoke up the dead dog's ass if article 5 isn't included!

I think some of you are getting it now, even though most are pretending to not get it.

The Ukraine should have been included the Ukraine in the fold in 2014 or earlier and now it's too late.

Consider Russia's options if the Ukraine becomes a member at 12 midnight.

1. Russia ceases all hostilities at 11:59.

2. Nato says it's o.k. for Russia to finish destroying the UKraine.

Which would be the most likely?

America didn't dot all the I's and cross all the t's when it started a war against Russia.

What difference does it make? We are already in a proxy war with Russia using Ukraine.

Moscow is starting to make a joke of the idea that the Ukraine can become a Nato member.

You're right, it make little difference if the Ukraine is declared to be a Nato member.
But it's not me you should be asking. Ask somebody that thinks it matters.

Sweden and Finland is out of bounds for Russian aggression. Or at least it's reasonable to think so. But that also then forbids those two from attacking Russia.

Some things are quite obvious but unfortunately they're not obvious to the goobers who play here.

Can 'you' imagine any way that the Ukraine can become a Nato member with article 5 privileges?

Maybe we should be talking about Poland snatching up the Western Ukraine before Russia takes it? Would Poland's article 5 privileges cover them if they do that?

Ukraine is and always will be Russia light....Why the blue fuck anyone would want them in NATO is beyond me.
Learn as you go with the occasional comment, but don't overdo it with the colorful language that's meant to impress us that you're not lagging behind the curve.

You should change your avatar because you're not as much of a dumbfuck as it portrays.

I still can't believe people are still virtue-signaling over that corrupt shit-hole.....It was not historically referred to Little Russia for nothing.

Actually, Ukraine is quite distinct from Russia. It has its own language, its own culture and had long had a strong sense of national identity and a desire to be free from Russian captivity. In 1933, Stalin starved 3.9 million Ukrainians to death to try to break the spirit of the Ukrainians, but failed, and in 1955, the USSR recognized that Ukraine was a distinct nation and gave it the same legal status within the USSR as Russia.

Similarities between Russia and Ukraine are superficial and the result of long decades of captivity by Russia/USSR and efforts to "reeducate" Ukrainians with communist propaganda and to change the demographics through forced transfers of population. Before the 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine, ethnic Russians comprised only 17.2% of the Ukrainian population, and like ethnic Russians all over the world, it is a certainty that most of them did not want to live under the Russian dictatorship.

Ukraine, like Sweden, is certainly worthier of NATO membership than some members like Turkey and Hungary and to not support the fight of the Ukrainian people to be free from Russian oppression would be to break consistent US policy from the end of WWII and piss on the graves of the soldiers who fought there.

Let's get this straight , Biden is not mulling anything over. His handlers are and they just hope to god he can say the words he is told to say without fucking them up too much

1. Ukraine should have kept their nukes. That was their first mistake.
2. Ukraine should have joined NATO when they could have. That was their 2nd mistake.
3. The US should not have ignored Russia's aggression in 2008 and in 2014. That was our mistake.

This war is showing how expensive those mistakes were. Pretty expensive.
