$$$$$$Dolly wanted her to record Jolene.
Rather telling that your first thought is the singer's race. You chose Beyonce( a black woman) and not Miley Cyrus (a white woman) who also recorded that song. All this hate for Beyonce is because she is black. You know and I know it
White America is outraged with Texas Hold ‘em and now this.Rather telling that your first thought is the singer's race.
Funny how you guys see "outrage" everywhere. Might it just be be that we think her remake of this classic sucks?White America is outraged with Texas Hold ‘em and now this.
So don’t listen to it.Funny how you guys see "outrage" everywhere. Might it just be be that we think her remake of this classic sucks?
Don't worry, I won't, once was enough. But that doesn't stop us from commenting that it sucks. And it doesn't make us racist, contrary to your racist accusation. So don’t listen to it.
The truth of it is, people like you hate the fact that a black woman can crossover into white music. I’m sure Charlie Pride went through the same thing
Ok. Tell me why you think it sucks.Don't worry, I won't, once was enough. But that doesn't stop us from commenting that it sucks. And it doesn't make us racist, contrary to your racist accusation.
I thought it was awesome.Tell us how people reacted when Luke Combs recorded Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car"?
I thought it was awesome.
She changed the lyrics and completely change the story of the song. And her singing was not that great either.Ok. Tell me why you think it sucks.
Everyone is a critic, innit?Me too, but many people criticized him for recording it.
I actually agree. The first thing that stood out is replacing “I’m begging you”with “I’m warning you.”She changed the lyrics and completely change the story of the song. And her singing was not that great either.
$$$$$$$$$$Dolly wanted her to record Jolene.
How much do you think artists make from sales?$$$$$$$$$$
Dolly make bucks off of the use of her music regardless of the quality of the work. She isn't gonna say the first negative thing.
Oh, ok, I get it now. You are a fucking moron. You chose Beyonce( a black woman) and not Miley Cyrus (a white woman) who also recorded that song. All this hate for Beyonce is because she is black. You know and I know it
Here's the comparison of the lyricsI actually agree. The first thing that stood out is replacing “I’m begging you”with “I’m warning you.”
That is an interesting interpretation. Thank you.Personally, I think Jolene got a bad rap in all of this.
The old man was probably the scoundrel the whole time.
Difference in the two different themes of the song, at least to me, is that in Dolly's version, she pretty much puts Jolene on a pedestal and pleads with her, whereas Beyonce's version is like, oh yeah, well I will whip that ass, biatch...
So, then, in Beyonce's version, Jolene is portrayed as the instigator.
In Dolly's version it sounds more like a jealous wife pleading because her old man is infatuated with some other chick.
