Best Buy, Best Spies

I bought a computer like twenty years ago from Best Buy and had the cleaning service plan...
These ass hat tried to get out of the service plan cleaning by saying my computer was infested with bugs...So I ask them to open it up and show me. They said I needed to leave or the cops would be called...I have always done my own cleaning in everything from VCRs to CPUS and even my printer...Used to be a typewriter..

FBI Has Been Paying Geek Squad To Spy On Customers For Over A Decade

need a lot more info but if child porn only, not sure warrants and so forth apply - that's supposed to be tipped off anyway, i believe. if i found it someones machine i'd be in a moral dilemma for sure. if almost anything else, then yea, much bigger issue.

I believe it is based on the concept that you are willinging giving your property to a third party, which has an express right to examine the material given to them. I would think a law abiding citizen would have a duty, paid or unpaid to report anything they found that was illegal. In this case it's not the government looking to search your drive, it's someone who has legal possession of the material handing it over of their own free will.

Technically if they hid it they could probably be considered an accessory.

The simple lesson here is fi you don't want people to search your computer, don't give it to them willingly. In particular if you have kiddie porn on it.

and this is where more info is known. on the surface BAD BEST BUY!!!! but if they agree child porn will be turned over, i know very few who would object. if they went digging around LOOKING for things that's another story completely.

The thing is when you ask a person to fix your computer, especially for a software glitch, they basically HAVE to look around.

And considering the intelligence of your average kid toucher, (especially one that would ship his porn laden computer to Best Buy) I wouldn't be surprised if they named their files and folders something glaringly obvious that would attract the instant attention of anyone just searching file folders and files, not opening them.

They probably don't clean their browser history either.
