Benghazi: “It’s gone, baby. It’s in your head. That’s the only place”

After more than a year now the fact remains that the partisan right has failed to prove its case, conservatives have failed to provide any evidence of ‘presidential wrongdoing’ that would warrant impeachment by the House and the president being found guilty in the Senate of any ‘crime.’

Conservatives, of course, claim they’ve provided such ‘evidence’ but whine about that ‘evidence’ being ignored by a ‘liberal media’ and ‘liberal political establishment,’ both of whom are ‘in the bag’ for Obama.

The irony of this is that from the outset ‘Benghazi’ was about politics, not the truth or justice for those who died. It was about what republicans saw as an opportunity to ‘get rid’ of Obama. Consequently the voters and the American people saw ‘Benghazi’ for what it really was: a partisan power grab, just as disingenuous as the other lies and falsehoods about Obama contrived by the right.

By the way, you're absolutely right about this being about politics from the outset, Clayton. Unfortunately for you, it was about politics for the Obama White House. They were the ones that started lying about what took place almost immediately because they didn't want to give any ammunition to Mitt Romney to use against them in the Presidential race.

When Hilary Clinton lied to the mother of one of the slain Americans as her son's casket was coming off the plane from Libya...THAT was politics at it's sleaziest.

Absolutely! The woman had to have been tempted to spit in her face.

That mother most likely would do that NOW, S.J....but at the time she believed Hillary Clinton. Who would think that the Secretary of State would look you in the eyes and lie to you about the circumstances of the death of your child for political reasons? Anyone who has questions about Hilary Clinton's "ethics" need look no further than that incident right there.

You're amazing. Obama has totally been played by Putin and Assad during this entire situation and somehow you think Barry is the "chess master"? You're naive enough to think that the so called threat of a few Cruise missiles fired at nothing brought Assad to the table? Obama couldn't even convince Democrats to vote for his threatened strike...how worried do you think Assad was that it would take place?

So what happens now when Assad doesn't follow through on whatever joke of an agreement John Kerry wins in negotiations? I ask that question because I'm certain that WILL be the case. Putin was astute enough to realize that Obama was teetering on the edge of a very embarrassing loss in Congress and was desperate for any solution that would give him even a semblance of a graceful way out.

At the moment Putin is the puppet master and both Obama and Kerry is dancing at the ends of his strings.
By your own standards and words, Putin is currently running the show. So if Assad doesn't come through it's all on him. That would mean he can't even control his own guy. That would be the biggest failure, biggest egg on the face ever. Which is what you and your ilk are saying is happening to Obama now.

At that point, Obama would easier get Congress approval b/c they would see that both Assad and Putin have PROVEN to be bad actors.

What more do you want?

The thing is, you radical RWers are just scrabbling for things to complain about Obama for, even if it goes against National Security and/or America's best interest.

It's rather sickening and disgusting.

Putin doesn't care ether way. If he doesn't turn the stuff over Putin will help him cover it up. If he does Putin will just sell him more.

Do you not grasp that Putin doesn't expect Assad to "come through"? Putin is only going to rein in Assad if doing so is good for Russia and bad for the US. If you weren't so naive you'd understand that Putin is LOVING Obama's predicament in the Middle East. Russia has been a second rate super power for more than a decade yet suddenly it's Vladamir Putin who is being called upon to broker a "peace" deal between Assad and the US? I can guarantee you that Putin will draw this out for as long as he possibly can without "coming through". Why? Because it gives power to him and Russia and takes it away from Obama and the US. He is going to milk this for as long as he can while Obama twists in the wind and John Kerry goes hoarse from making idle threats.

The truth of the matter is that if Putin wanted to...he could make Assad toe the line today. Without Russian backing, Assad's regime wouldn't last a month against the rebels and Assad knows it. Putin doesn't want change in Syria. He wants Assad in power and beholden to Russia.
