Just returned from my vacation in Wisconsin.

We've had a Bald Eagle that has a nest on one of the neighboring properties. (I just know it isn't on mine.) I've seen it flying over the lake from time to time over the last few years.

Anyway, this year it got REALLY close to where I was staying. The thing was HUGE! Seven foot wing span at the least.

Has anyone else seen a bald eagle up close in the wild?

My dad lives on the Mississippi, and there is a nest on their property.

Wild turkeys wander through as well.

    You ever seen a pelican?

I've seen a few with at least a 10-12 foot wing span.....

Given their size I'm shocked they don't attempt to snatch small animals.... Those birds could easily take a cat or a small dog.... I suppose they have webbed feet tho, and not actual talons.
